Radio Swan is phenomenal. The entire experience at Forbidden Root tonight was stellar.

That's encouraging because I have thoroughly enjoyed the draft release up until now.

I had never heard of Open Outcry. Their website is pretty bare bones; does anyone have more info?

Wondering if they are canning/crowlering their NE IPA. Might be worth stopping in if so.

Anyone in Evanston, please report back on Sketchbook's. There session pale and IPA were both unique, solid beers to me so I'm curious if their NEIPA might be different from the attempted norm in some way.

Open Outcry opens this Friday. They had a soft opening, and their NEIPA to the looks of it, stole the show. However, friends and family can be biased. So can't wait to see the opinions roll in after Friday.

I noticed there was a Sketchbook beer on tap at Forbidden Root last night on the guest handle, but I don't remember what it was, and it was lined out so it had kicked. Was it the NE IPA or something else? Anyone know?

It was Insufficient Clearance, the NE-style IPA. I should be sharing a growler of it tonight. The Untappd rating is pretty low but Draft Magazine had it as the 19th best IPA in the country.

I had insufficient clearance at FR's NEIPA tap takeover, and I remember it falling in the middle of the pack. It was fine, but not close to what Forbidden Root, Corridor, Noon Whistle, and Mikerphone were putting out. But that is only my opinion, obviously.

I liked "Orange Door" (that's the Sketchbook IPA, right?), so I have no doubt these guys can do a proper NE IPA once they have it dialed it. As many breweries have recently proven, it's usually just a question of getting used to a slightly different methodology of IPA brewing than they're traditionally used to. I would imagine that it's tough to initially nail down, but once you've got it, you're locked in (see Corridor and FR as perfect examples).

Solemn Oath is releasing their first NE IPA, Strange Old Woods, on Friday.

Also, this weekend Myths and Legends is doing a bottle release of Ol' Stormie (their attempt) at a NE IPA. Just curious, has anyone had this? Not the best ratings on untappd.

Open outcry looks interesting, via Facebook. They have hosted private yoga classes for sometime and also a few soft openings to friends and family. The reviews via untappd, especially for their "NE style" IPA, are stellar. Thinking about stopping in Friday after I hit up Corridor....Open outcry opens at 11 am Friday FYI.

If you do stop by make sure to check out Horse Thief Hollow as well which is down the street on Western. They currently have a NE IPA called Parallel Universe that has gotten some great reviews.

Can anyone speak to how M43 is a few weeks old? Is it better fresh? Am thinking about a trade and the other side has cans that have a 6/30 date on them.

I'm still drinking and enjoying cans from mid-June. They've been quite consistent, and I've noticed no difference from when I have had it fresh.
