I have an 8-11am pick-up window. My wife has a Noon -3pm pickup window. Not sure how that is going to work but I'll miss her.

First time visiting the area and I cannot wait. What is the best/most convenient hotel to stay at?

My first trip to Decorah as well. Assuming lodging is already out, I planned to grab and go, but C&C sounds awesome and would love to check out PR. Can anyone share some tips for release day? Can't miss adventures? Any happenings Friday night? Any options to avoid driving? Any of these places kid friendly? Appreciate any advice.

A guy has a funeral to go to and more than one person responds like an asshole? For fucks sake.

I seem to remember some discussion (or controversy? :grinning:) about who brewed the last batch (3) and subsequently somewhat mixed reviews of it compared to previous batches - anybody have the downlow on this batch? I won last year and now again this year so I am just asking out of curiosity!

It was brewed by a team of highly trained howler monkeys. They tapped the maple out of the grove above the tap room parking lot's retaining wall. The malt was roasted over a fire of $100 bills. The process can never be repeated, since the monkeys can't speak English.

    Fork over your whalez $.

Any hotel in Decorah you can get.

Winneshiek is closest, but all of them are walkable for someone in halfway decent shape.

Eat some Mabe's, don't miss the PR anniversary part, visit the C&C. If you're an outdoors person, get up early and run/hike/bike on the Decorah Human Powered Trails. The Haymarket and T-Bock's have good hangover breakfast to cure you from Friday and power you up for Saturday.

Did the wall retain all the maple in the last batch?!!! :grinning: (truth be told, i tried the batches side by side and they tasted the same to me, batch 2 being a tad thicker)

I didn't win, but my lady did! 2 of my buddies did too, all in the 8-11 am slot. We're probably going to carpool up and back, and I'll be camped out at PR while they're getting their MD on.

Story time. I got an email for the 8-11 AM slot. Found out the same day that I will need to be in santa barbara for work until 5pm on Aug 18th. Ive looked at all possible ways to fly, then rent and drive, but none get me to decorah before 11 AM. I emailed TG but am doubtful about letting me go to the later timeslot.

Mike wasn't there when B3 was brewed. He is there now.

Just because I was looking at flights to and from CA today for a similar time frame, There's a UA flight from LAX to ORD that takes off at 11:15 PM and lands at 5:11 AM. 5 hour drive from there (I'm assuming a lot of traffic) and you would be close but most likely before 11.

I took no offence to it. I understand that people are upset that they were not selected. If I knew before, I would of never entered. Hope everyone going enjoys the release!

You could try emailing TG to see if they'd make an exception for you as they're not completely heartless. I saw on twitter someone made a joke about having their grandma sign up and needing wheelchair access if she won. Clark thought the Twitter user was in a wheelchair and was ready to roll out the red carpet for him. It can't hurt anything to send an email asking if they'll hold your bottles until you're able to return from the funeral.

I agree with this. The only caveat that I'll add is that if it was me, I'd be extremely forthcoming about the circumstances surrounding the funeral, and hence how you know that you won't be able to make it several weeks in advance.

Appreciate the help. I guess it couldn't hurt. I just don't want to push it because it seems like they're strict with the rules for this release. I would even be happy if I can just transfer it to someone that didn't win and really wanted to go.
