Good morning BAs! I love it down here! It's good to see I'm not the only one sweating.

Decent brew with a reasonable price point.

Must history always repeat itself. If my parents were still alive they would still be telling the story of how I "weeded" the garden. No garden that year. Looks like I have done in my first tomato plant as well. Beer?

Not bad, kinda one dimensional and a bit on the malty caramely side, with some of the finish bite from the high amount of carbonation, to its disadvantage. I am first to admit I am totally spoiled by what locals are doing with hops. Kinda not fair to have to compare beers from other parts of the country to what we get here.

I always love The Open Championship. Woke up at 5 AM to watch, because I'm an insane person.

It's almost 10 AM, so why not crack a brew? Founders Breakfast Stout, which has become a Thursday of The Open tradition for me.

Tasting fantastic, as always. That chocolate and coffee is hitting just the right notes for me this AM.

Headed up to Wisconsin later for my annual Brew Day tomorrow with my brother. We'll be doing a citra/azacca hopped IPA (pretty clean malt bill) and a bourbon barrel aged Founders Sumatra Brown inspired brew. Should be a fun time and hopefully, get some good beer out of the deal.

    Enjoy your day BAs, cheers!

Seems to be the right time for a stout- and this one is drinking fantastically easy. Weyerbacher Finally Legal. Cheers!

You are not alone in "weeding" mishaps. At times my dad was notorious for assuming things. He would assign chores to me and my brother (God rest his soul), and occasionally not really give us much in the way of instruction. We were always "involved" in things around the house, but c'mon - how much attention do kids really pay? Involved to a kid is pretty irrelevant and is a far cry from "hands on". Riding our bikes, war games in the tree fort, or playing baseball was all we were really thinking about...we weren't what you call acute observers since we knew "involvement" often lead to <gasp> chores.

The early spring day's chore was "you boys pull the weeds from this area before I get home from work". Man, I can tell you we weeded the hell outta that section of the garden! It was gardmageddon...it was weed-a-palooza...it was absolutely legendary. Peas, beets, asparagus, green beans, squash, onions - well, basically it all looked like weeds to two unsupervised kids under the age of 10, and we were very proud we'd done such a great job so we could plant vegetables...totally ignorant of the fact it had already been tilled and planted .Needless to say once the wrath subsided we got a lot more in the way of "training" before being set loose to do chores.

Funny now, not so much then. But it represents a memory that feeds into things we do in our house today. We grow vegetables and flowers, we preserve the harvest and have tomatoes and peppers, hot sauces, jellies, pickles all year made from things grown by our own hands. Even home brewing, in a way, since grampy made wine and other relatives made other "interesting" liquids as I learned in my teens. Skills that we eventually came to take for granted as kids that people are mystified by now. Thinking back what - forty-ish years ago - we just thought it was something everybody did.

Wish there was a Ballantine's in my cup instead of coffee...flashback to grampy "planting" Ballantine's bottles at the end of each row so he could "pick" them...

Having a Troubadour Magma. Can use a more warming beer, since it’s like summer is gone around here at the moment.

:grinning: Grampy sounds like a great guy. The verdict on my plants is that I am a known plant killer. My basil is growing, my lavender and my parsely.

I think my area stole summer from y'all. I will do my best to get it returned, as it is baking hot here right now.
