The good part about Threes is they have a fridge in their cafe that has cans from almost all the NYC breweries pretty regularly. The downside is you are paying for the convenience ($6 to $9 a can). The cafe part of the brewery (only place you can buy cans to go) is open 12pm - 6pm on Saturday and Sunday. If you want to get an idea of what they stock, check out "theshopatthrees" on Instagram. They also have the best space, in my opinion, of all of the breweries to hang out, get something to eat, and try beers from Threes and other local breweries on draft.

After hitting Other Half & Threes you could always run into the Gowanus Whole Foods (nearby) which has a pretty excellent beer selection.

Awesome. I'll hit Threes and that Whole Foods. I appreciate all the help. Cheers.

Another vote for Threes being the no-brainer choice all things considered. Not sure if I'd agree with WF gowanus being stellar. I'd say it's solid - worth checking out for sure, but I don't think any of the WF have an A+ selection these days.

Yeah. I feel like the only thing exceptional these days is the tap room in the Columbus Circle store. Great happy hour there too.

I think he's just looking for out-of-market beer to bring back to Florida. He can look for the ultra-local shit at Threes and then get whatever he missed at WF.

If you need a place to eat, Threes has good food also Pig Beach is in the area, I think they are Top 3 BBQ in the City, and they have a Collab with OH on tab typically.

They also usually have other half cans. I was there this weekend and they had cans of Still Shinin and Pig Beach.

I've noticed most of the NYC WF have been stocked these days with Greenpoint Beer & Ale, LIC, Threes, Industrial Arts, Grimm, etc. For someone coming from out of state, I'd argue that is a pretty solid selection. You also cannot beat their prices.

indeed, and its $2 off during happy hour as well, leading to some of the best prices in the city
It also is an amazing space/view, and there is pizza/italian in the same space as the bar, so you can have a mix of wine (18 wines by glass), beer, seafood or italian all in the same area...its a great place to take family or people less into beer....

Yikes, was hoping to bring the in-laws to the taproom Saturday afternoon. Now I'm thinking that might be a bad idea with the collab? Crowdsourcing this because I'm usually there before 11am on saturdays -- will it be elbow to elbow at 1-2pm?

Ps: I've heard All wheat everything is awesome so I have high hopes for the veil collab even with the coconut. Perks of having family in Virgina!

Yeah that's never a bad suggestion - kind of figured it was what we should do. Helpful to hear it from someone else!

It's a great show, have fun! I saw them in Newark last month and had first to the barrier. Unfortunately the idiot ticket scanners couldn't get anything right and I wound up being in the 4th row instead of 1st, but still a good time.

Went to the taproom tonight with a buddy of mine. I was shocked how busy it was at open on a Wednesday, but met some nice people and drank some great beer. Standouts we're DDH ACE (of course) and True Green.

For sure. I live near it and go often. And for what he/she needs it's great. Was just making a side point that I don't think it (or any WF) is "stellar" any more. Solid with some great local options? Yeah.

Not sure what WF's gameplan is but seems to me they're scaling back generally on the nerdier stuff. WF Bowery used to be the beer store of choice (or at least top 3) for most of us. Now the only air time WF generally gets on here is the per-release roll call in the Grimm hunting thread. TBH with the popularity of beer these days plus the OH-style brewery-only releases, its hard for any store to maintain a stellar selection anymore. But for somewhere nearish to me I'd put the likes of Covenhoven up there.

Folksbier is a nearby too and usually is pretty chill. Solid beer as well.

What? I was able to pick up greenpoint, carton, lic, grimm, industrial arts cans along with stickee monkee and some other local stuff at WF last week. They occasionally get finback cans too. I'd call that pretty stellar.
