I haven't had it in probably a year. Will have to grab one from the dojo this weekend.

I still have some cans that I believe are dated 6/22. Holding up just fine.

Not a Chicagoland created beer, but was surprised Bitter Pops got these Omnipollo cans in stock.
Anyone grab any or try it? How is it?

For those in the Burbs or the South Side (or those who feel like traveling to either), just a reminder of the releases this weekend:

Solemn Oath - Strange Old Woods (4pk for $20)
Myths and Legends - Ol' Stormie (22oz Bomber, idk price)
Open Outcry (Grand Opening) - Open Interest (draft only, I believe....not sure if they are doing crowlers or growlers yet).

If I missed any, you post it. Haha cheers.

New batch of Stratus out again today. Hopefully the last batch was a one time anomaly...

I think Navajos is the closest to heady I've had in Chicago

Was just in Binny's on Grand. Seems like there were two new localish ones that are maybe NE style?
One was from Oddside called Dirty Dank Juice and the other was from Illuminated called Astronaut Orange Juice.
    I didn't grab either one.
    Anyone try these? Any thoughts?

Also Binny's on Grand has some of that Mikkeller Windy Hill and the Omnipollo Shploing if you are looking.

Shploing was supposed to be brewed with graham cracker and marshmallow and I got nothing of that sort. Still a decent tasting beer though.

That dirty dank juice looked good. I had heard it was pretty good - but I don't know how it would stack up against the big boys here.

Me too. Picked up Cumulus and Stratus from Binny's Mokena. Makes sense to have some Hailstorm in a hailstorm I guess.

So I ended up grabbing Windy Hill and Shploing.
Thought Windy Hill was pretty nice, a bit too bitter for the style in my opinion, but some people might like that. Will gladly drink the rest of this four pack and pick it up again when I come across it. Feel pretty good about picking it up, nice mouthfeel, nice aroma, looks great in a glass, bitter finish. Bottom of the can says it is with simcoe and amarillo.

Omnipollo Shploing I also thought was pretty good, but the can legit says graham crackers, mango, salt, lactose, marshmallows, and it seriously tastes just like a hopped up IPA. I don't taste any of the additional stuff at all besides an increased sweetness as it warmed up. Aroma on it is super nice though, almost worth it for the aroma alone, but I was expecting probably a weirder outcome with that mix and something thicker more in line with a milkshake style IPA. Appearance in the glass was somewhat hazy and was not very thick in body. Good IPA, but at 14.99 for a four pack of SMALL cans, I don't think I'd pick it up again. At this point after the things I've tried from them I feel Omnipollo is a bit overhyped/overrated.

This latest batch of Cumulus is meh. Thin. It's almost like Nimbus.

Well, Open Interest from Open Outcry needs a bit more work. Nice solid effort. It's kind of like the first batch of SoJ. If you're in the area, I'd recommend going to HTH instead.

We had Dirty Dank Juice on Wednesday. For the price, it's decent, but with so many actual local offerings that are better, I'd pass on actually buying it myself.

I agree. I grabbed a 6 pack earlier this week. At first the mouthfeel was off and it tasted real bitter citrus. Once it warmed a bit mouthfeel was improved (might have been due to undercarbed) but the flavor profile became completely flat for me. Now I have 5 left... Seriously, it's fine, but as noted so many other vastly superior options.

Anyone try the new Stratus batch? Might pick some up on my way out of town later today, but want to avoid the previous one that people were saying wasn't up to par. What's the canning date I want to avoid? Thanks!

Would imagine the new batch was canned within the last week.
