    This week's (July 18th) releases...
    ____________________________________
Uncle Cousin (DEBUT) is a new single hop 11% Triple IPA. We basically took the grain bill and hopping rates/schedule as We Ded Mon, but instead of using all Citra we went with Mosaic. Str8 insanity.
Shooting for approx 180-200 cases. $17+tax/4-pack. 3x 4-packs per person.

Never Gonnagetit (DEBUT) is the next installment in our fruited Gose Never series. This time we bombed the heck out of it with mixed berries. A ton of raspberry, blackberry, and boysenberries went into this purplebeer. Tastes like straight up tart freshly picked fruit from all 3x varietals. Super refereshing.
Shooting for approx 190-220 cases. $17+tax/4-pack. 3x 4-packs per person.

    All Wheat Everything (DEBUT)
is our latest collab with our homiez from Brooklyn at Other Half Brewing Company. Clocking in at 8%, this is a 100% Wheat DIPA. There is zero barley in this one. Gives it an incredibly soft mouthfeel like actual orange juice. Hopped intensely with Citra, Galaxy, and Enigma. Turned out sick!
Shooting for approx 205-225 cases. $17.50+tax/4-pack. 3x 4-packs per person.

    *LIMITS SUBJECT TO CHANGE*

There is a strong possibility that we will have a bunch of Snozzwired cases, a small amount of Dreamless cases, and if any, a... few Coalesce 4-packs. We will announce on Tuesday in the can release info post what the inventory is looking like on those. Anything left will be at the same limits posted today(up to a case/6x 4-packs per brand).

My wife and I are planning to stop by Veil on our drive up to New England for vacation. We have been wanting to travel to Richmond for months to experience Veil, Triple Crossing Brewing, Final Gravity, and Hardwood. Think we will only have time for Veil and Triple Crossing this go around .

I have lurked on this thread and followed a good deal of the posts, but not all. Hoping to pickup some last minute advice. We think we will pull into Veil around 3:30 pm. Three new debuts / third Thursday... how quickly does the team at Veil clear the line? Are we looking at a 60 90 minute wait? Any tips for braving the line?

Just seeing the price points for each it gets into that debate of how does a brewery justify their pricing on certain beers. Ingredients and abv seems to be the default responses I often see and this week's release would create a good way for better clarfication. You have a 4.9% Gose, 8% DIPA and 11% TRIPA all coming in at just about the same retail. I think the collaboration with a brewery as well known and highly sought after as OH can be a reason for that cost and then the recent responses I have see as "fresh fruit isn't cheap" could be added for another reason the Gose to be there. Now I know this follows their same pricing model for cans along these lines but it was just eye opening to see them side-by-side-by-side with cost.

Reads like you will be in town on Thursday I'm guessing? I think if any cans are left then line should not be too bad. There is a seperate line for draft pours and then for cans/merch. On normal Tuesday releases the waits can be super slow as I hear they often only have 1-2 people ringing up cans / merch.

Definitely don't miss Final Gravity if you get into town earlier enough. They open at 10am or 11am during the week so that would be an easy stop before the others if you happen to arrive early enough. If you are debating which Triple Crossing to visit and possibly want to take away some Crowlers with you on the NE trip then head to the Downtown / Foushee St. location. That's the only one that fills Crowlers on demand. Fulton location appears to still have Nectar & Knife cans that were released last week but those could sell out by Thursday. Mekong would be another option if you make it to town and looking for lunch.

@TomCat11 we plan to pull into Veil right around 3:30 tomorrow afternoon. We were planning to hit Fulton for some pizza and a taste of what Triple Crossing has to offer. I only recall seeing growlers listed on the Final Gravity website. Does Final Gravity offer crowlers?

Define super slow wait... we understand the BA line tax and have paid our dues plenty of times ... really don't mind the wait... especially when you can get a pour while you wait. We just don't want to get shut out. Should we bring chairs? Any chance of line sustaining nourishment withing walking distance?

    BTW, Mekong looks great!

If you pull in at 3:30 then expect quite a long wait. The line will likely be at least 100-150 deep. I would say at least an hour easy. I think the large influx of people show up around 3pm or so. You can follow the "Line Update" thread on the Behind the Veil fb page if you are on there to get an idea as it happens. Based on their expected yield and limits you have nothing to worry about with getting shut out if you show up at open or even a little after. There will not be 360-400 people in line at 4pm. Most likely half that at the very most but even that is more than I typically expect at open. You will just have a nice long wait. With it being both a Gose and collab release then it will be quite a high turnout. You could bring chairs but if you are arriving 30 minutes before open those may just be extra weight to carry with you. Line will tighten up quite a bit once doors open so moving your chair every few minutes may be extra work you don't want to deal with. Intergalactic Tacos should be the food truck tomorrow as they normally are for Tuesday so if you get hungry and can't wait then just grab something from them. You can only drink within their parking lot so once you arrive the line will likely be well outside of the lot so you will have a little wait before being able to do that. But it is nice you won't be solo as you can swap up going up to get pours and then return to the line. Someone else who goes more regularly can probably provide a better estimate but I would say once you are in their parking lot in line then the wait would probably be around 30-45 minutes from there.

If you go to Mekong, The Answer is in the same building and is the popular double dip stop for those coming to Veil for releases on Tues. The Answer fills Crowlers of their popular "Joose" on Tues & Thurs.

Final Gravity does do Crowlers. 11am open tomorrow. They don't list their prices on Untappd but you can see what they have as they are a Verified Venue.

Thanks @TomCat11, appreciate the guidance. We are going to drop our son and daughter off to catch a movie and brave the line without chairs. Sounds like a backpack and cold water is the call.

2:30pm line update (from posts of people there). Line just left the lot. My best guesstimate is probably around 75 people based on location of the end of the line. (Old photo from GoogleMaps for reference)

Give or take 3:20-3:30 Line Update. Long but still only about 1/3 length of what would be needed if everyone gets full allotment of the new cans to sell out. I would guess around 125. The line will tighten up considerably closer to open.

We had a great time. Thanks for the great advice. Good cheers in the line. We parked around 3:45 and were back on the road by 5pm. Had a pour while waiting. Completed the cannonball run and landed safely at Tree House this afternoon.

1:15 for peak line time is pretty solid and you ended at tree house. Sounds like a great time.

If it wasn't our first time to Veil we would have showed up an hour after open to let the initial surge clear out. When we left the line was well inside their parking lot and likely closer to a 30 min wait vs an hour and change.

The only thing that could be better is the checkout. They could use more than two cash registers. Two registers are not adequate for clearing 150+ on a 95*+ day. We would have stayed for one more pour if we had more time.

Great staff and great beers. Awesome first experience at The Veil!

    Is there a tasting room?

My wife will be in Richmond for a teacher's conference and was hoping to stop by to pick up a growler or some cans for us. We've never been! But there's no way she'll have time for an hour or more wait. What's the best option? Can Veil beers be found locally in stores?

    Thanks for any advice!

There is a tasting room but no growler fills, and no cans in distribution. When will she be there? There's a chance there will be cans available with no wait, but it all depends on when she's there and what they release that week.

@oldn00b congrats on that White Ferrari revival man. Know you've been waiting on that. Maybe you'll hit the jackpot with Frozen Ocean as the last beer announced.
