    "influencers"

They have them for everything. Once you get into 20k-50k follower - real followers that lead to a lot of likes (not those accounts that have 30k followers but each picture gets 300 likes), it can open some doors for "product placement" so to say. Follower ranges influences how much money you can "demand". There's reasons why Kardashians get paid a shitload of money, it's a good guarantee that your product will be seen by a millions of people. There are whole "talent" networks that revolve around influencers for Twitter, youtube, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.

As for beer world, I'm sure they benefit. Such as some people gifting them "whales" just so the gifter can get a shout out. Or starting up webstores with t-shirts that have silly beer related slogans.

There is one account @webikeforbeers which has a relatively small fanbase (<5k) and I'm pretty sure they have a sponsor from a bike company.

I've never been part of an OH line, but I have seen plenty of videos, and have spoken to a few individuals who have attended them (usually while on the far less infamous LIC Beer Project line. I think you hit the nail on the head.

There's a lot of 'armchair psychology' going around here.

Not sure how relevant this is for OH line instagrammers, but depending on how many followers you have, you can potentially "sell" your instagram 'space" to brands both big and small. Let's take an obvious, albeit extreme example: Kylie Jenner, half-sister to Kim Kardashian. Kylie has an Instagram following of over 95 million, most of whom are probably ages 18-35 YO. For brands and advertisers, that's a shit ton of (potential) eyeballs viewing every post she makes. A brand, let's say Louis Vuitton, wants to advertise their latest purse towards that demographic. They give Kylie, I dunno, at least a few tens of thousands of dollars, and she posts a picture of herself with the purse, tags it, talks about it, etc.

Now for Instagrammers who post about beer, while they obviously have waaay less than nearly 100 million followers, they nevertheless have a highly targeted audience, viz., beer aficionados. Theoretically, such an instagrammer could be approached by a craft brewery, or potentially Big Beer, such as Budweiser, (assuming they have a viable amount of followers) and be paid to take of picture of a product etc.

Of course therein lies a conflict of interest between what is an advertisement (product placement) vs. what is a legit post, and there are some self-regulations that are being enforced by advertising organizations (e.g. hashtags such as #paidpost, #sponsoredcontent etc. although I personally think more should be done but I digress.

But unlike some people here who I doubt are psychologists, I actually work in advertising

There are a handful of "beerstagram" accounts I follow. I highly doubt some of these people are drinking the 4-7 beers they post to Instagram or in their stories EVERY DAY....I would wager the majority of the time these 10k+ follower accounts are drinking the beer that is poured, but may be given some freebies to pose with the can of 5 other beers they post each day.

I think there are 2 factors at work here. The first is that the people that post pictures of their weekly 72 can allotment from OH on Insta are always going to get noticed because "holy shit look at that guy." The second is just OH and their limits in general seem to be the perfect storm for people that want to turn a profit.

So I think there are a lot of people that just like drinking the beer that just don't get noticed in the age of posting double allotments next to your cat. And I think as people said lowering limits will definitely still allow them to sell out while getting their beer in more hands and making it less profitable for the Ebay crew. But who knows. 11am sellouts are easy so maybe OH likes that they can open their doors and be done with sales by noon, while also keeping up this exclusivity and discussion on threads like this

Wouldn't lower limits just bring out more re-sellers, because the demand would be higher (as they are harder to get) so they would sell for more?

I don't think so. With lower limits the beer would actually be easier to get. Sure, you couldn't get a case, but it would mean twice as many people could get beer, which would decrease demand for buying a couple $10 cans off someone because they want to try it. The big effect would be cutting the reseller's potential gains in half and allowing more people to buy directly from the brewery.

While tree house still has a huge resale market apparently, I think a lot of that is driven by a combination of its relatively remote location and the absurdly high perceived value of the beer. Trillium doesn't have much of a resale market, because it's so much easier to go to the brewery yourself.

Instead of simple solutions like lowering limits, I'd like to see OH allow different limits for locals or those who have over 10k followers on Instagram. Those of us who are true influencers deserve the full allotments despite being from the hated pit, New Jersey.

No they would be easier to get since there wouldn't be a monopoly on the cases. It would take more people for a crew to grab more beers.

Those people then would have less beer to trade/sell.

Why even have limits at this point? Make it 5 cases per person. I'm not waking up at 5am to guarantee beer.

For all the talk about the new taproom opening, it seems like the larger concern among die hard fans ought to be the total output. Since getting the space next door, are they running at the higher scaled up capacity yet? Can we expect the volume of beer made (which is another way to deal with the scarcity problem) to increase later this year or soon thereafter?

So on the one hand there's us beer loving locals who just want a 4-pack to savor (ideally would like to buy by the half can if possible). And on the other there are psychologically damaged opportunistic out of towners buying multiple case loads. Crazy that there's nobody occupying the middle ground.

Speaking of the new taproom...I guess it's looking like it's opening to the public in August now? I remember at the begininng of the year when it was rumored to open in March-April
