Without even knowing allotments, I'll put money on that you can roll in late into the evening/night and buy some of these cans behind the bar. Yet, I bet we will see chairs at noon.

Honey is more expensive than fruit and at least they are giving back to a cause with the sales of Hyve. However, I agree. Its fucking nuts.

I think my incredibly expensive (by normal standards) beer trip to MA a month ago has actually saved me money in the long run. I'd have been tempted by the double strawberry shake/Gatherer release as well as this one. I was on the trip during the Gatherer release, and I still have a variety of Tree House, Trillium, and Night Shift, so I don't want anymore fresh beer today.

I'm still a Tired Hands fan, but I'm going to have to run out of beer from my MA trip before I can justify another trip there. Even then, I will start reconsidering how often I go. I haven't gone since the coffee OV/vanilla shake/New Horizons release, and the recent price increases sure aren't luring me back. I used to go at least once a month since I drink what I buy... not full allotments to trade/sell.

People think Trillium and their $20.20 4-packs are expensive and way overpriced... HA!

Can we confirm that TH now has the most expensive beer in America? Or is there a brewery that consistently sells beer that is more expensive...?

isn't maine beer co bottles like $6.99 for 16oz?

not saying they compare apples to apples but if you hit up a store and bought 4 lunches it would cost you $28 or more i'd assume... not sure their pricing if you went to the brewery

Dinner, for example, is $8/16.9 oz bottle at the brewery. The other beers are usually $6-7 at the brewery, I believe.

It's the most expensive beer in the country outside of any beer sold at Food and Friends in Rittenhouse.

word so TH cans while .9oz less are priced at basically maine beer co prices

stop lining up for every release and buying things out in a matter of hours and the prices will stop going up.. shit they might go down if it lasted long enough... till that happens the price will go up

so many 750's these days are over $20 which is why I stopped buying Bruery and the special Brooklyn stuff. don't get me started on Cascade or 50/50. a bottle of Pannepot, one of my faves, is typically $6 so yeah I've been passing on a lot of imports too.

But I think most people acknowledge that there are additional production costs for beer that is sitting in a barrel for a year or two, and expect those costs to increase costs (within reason).

But these Tired Hands IPAs are being sold the day they are canned, they intentionally have minimized overhead costs.

Maine Beer's brewery prices aren't a great comparison. They also distribute their beer, so they aren't going to undercut their distributors and retail shops by charging anything less. They are probably wholesaling that beer for $3 a bottle.

That'd be the price to compare brewing costs against. Tired Hands only sells direct to consumers, so compared to retail pricing, they are keeping two tiers of markup for themselves.

    Bingo.

Nobody is being forced to buy these goods at these prices, are they? I truly don't understand the constant discourse over prices...

Exactly. I have been buying much less of the IPA's as the prices rise. That said, I'm going to try to get 1 4-pack of the Hyvemind this afternoon if it is still around when the line dies down.

i'm aware maine's beers are in distro... that's why i said

"not saying they compare apples to apples but if you hit up a store and bought 4 lunches it would cost you $28 "

regardless of the business's and how they are run that's how much comes out of my pocket for the product... how they operate is their choice... if maine didn't have distro they wouldn't be selling lunch for $3 either... it is what it is.. buy it or don't

This is a public beer forum. No one made any comments about being forced to buy the beer. We're merely discussing the recent price increases. I've defended Tired Hands when people who don't even drink their beer constantly talk negatively about them. I will, however, comment on something when it doesn't please me like the recent rising prices. To confirm, no one is forcing me to buy these goods at these prices, no.

More power to those that don't mind paying more money for their beer.

It was a rhetorical question; I was only illustrating my confusion at people repeatedly complaining (as opposed to simply commenting on), or acting incredibly surprised when prices increase.

There's a direct solution to that issue, and it doesn't involve commenting online and then buying the beer anyway -- it involves simply not buying the beer if the price is too high.

    Cheers!™

This is the truth I got sick of the price increases and standing in line to guarantee getting the beers I wanted so have stopped going to the releases. Obviously other people still feel the beer is worth the price resulting in still selling out the same day. Hopefully some day people will decide that it's gone to far with the prices and lines but until then I have moved on to other more reasonable beers. Not saying people shouldn't talk about the prices they are getting to a level I never imagined they would reach.

Attended first release yesterday. Was a very pleasant experience once I accepted the chairs. Hyvemynd is delicious.
