I'll be in the area tomorrow, hopefully late enough to make the brewery opening. Does anyone know what cans are available? I know new beers dont usually get posted until opening, but does anyone know if cans of Boat or O'dub were available on Sunday?

Last facebook post had 07747, shinshu, wit whale, idipa, boat, and canoe/rabaska cans for sale. Generally if they're very low on something they won't list it (or will remove it) on facebook prior to that day's opening, so I think it's somewhat safe to assume everything listed on their last facebook post should be available. Also fwiw (a good thing IMO) OG o'dub wasn't available last week, as they were selling the galaxy variant (07747)...but just wanted to mention it.

It looks like there's still Canoe and Rabaska. I'm looking forward to trying it. Carton does a great job with cream ales. Just finished my last Shinshu. SS-Cream was one of my favorite beers of 2016.

thought they were both really good drinking beers with a slight edge to the canoe for the crushability - pretty much as advertised on @augiecarton 's can copy...

Yep I forget if I gave my opinions on the two but I bought 2 sixers before I left for vacation Saturday and both were gone by Tuesday. Excellent hot day beers.

I have yet to crack open my Canoe and Rabaska and I'm looking very forward to doing so. Probably will save them for yard work this weekend.

Mini Canoe Rant: A friend of mine called Canoe "very pedestrian," in a negative way. Now after listening to @augiecarton talk about these beers I'm like yea, it is probably is, and it's probably supposed to be, but maybe we can think of a more positive word like simple, or drinkable, which are both positive and exactly what I want in a freaking 3% beer.

Anyway, I cracked open my first Galaxy Odub (07747) last night and hot damn. Galaxy shined through in all its tropical and grassy glory. I also got a ton of this green/garlic/onion thing that I've never had so intensely in Odub. Anyone else getting this? Great stuff.

Haven't tried this batch yet but galaxy dub is one of the best ones. Because galaxy is the best hop

Yup that's why I clarified that Galaxy may be the best hop, but it is only 'one of' the best Dubs. Nelsons is the top, Galaxy+Warrior+Motueka right below. Gonna have to disagree RE: Modub @Dreamer57.

EDIT: My rankings only count insofar as I've never had Simcoe or the mysterious black Odub

I know its not a sexy hop or anything and its never been canned but something about the Centennial Dubviant always hit the spot for me and has been one of my favorites. Really enjoyed the new Chinook one too

Only ever tried that on IPA day so it's tough to tell the differences by the 4th or 5th Dub sample. I'd also love to see the Centennial one done again - @augiecarton, what bar is that for? Bond?

    couple ways to respond to your friend/;
1 "it's pedestrian to an immature palate, as you grow you will learn to suss out the nuance that makes it dramatically different from other small cream ales, but hey only put what pleases your mouth in your mouth"
2 "it says 'strive for meh' on the can, if that's what they wanted isn't pedestrian the highest possible praise?"
3 the classic "go shit in your hat dopey sometimes beers are for drinking"
4 "I understand your point, variety is the spice the life, isn't beer great?"

I used to call pilsners and lagers a similar thing. Funnily enough, it was in the midst of my "ZOMG I need 10.5% Imperial IPA's and anything else is junk" a few years ago. It's evolved since and I can appreciate beers a whole lot better.

Maybe your friend is in a similar place?

it's a journey we are all on, some are at the first of a million steps, some found a lovely lake to stay at a thousand in and stayed put, others just trod on seeing what's around the next bend. best to pat him on the head encourage his progress and not spend to much time looking back. We've all been there.
