Along the same line as stating that it is pointless to say "PM," isn't it also pointless to say "If on the fence I'll add a plus"?

Are people so obnoxiously hard-headed that they have to be told that someone will add a plus?
If a trade interests you, but you want a plus, won't you just ask?
It seems like stating that you will add a plus just encourage abuse (i.e. encourage people to always ask for the plus). Or am I too cynical about the trading of rare/limited beers in the open ISO/FT forum?

Or am i missing something altogether? Perhaps too new to this, and never a whale hunter?

I think it's more about drawing a line in the sand. The person thinks their offer is fair, but really wants their ISO. So by stating a small add is possible, they limit any expectations on the FT side, but can still entice someone who might have initially been a little hesitant about the trade.

The one variability is the meaning of a plus. To some it gives the other party an option to select from a decent list - a true enticement to complete the trade; to others it's just a way of clearing the cellar of "extras." I've been involved with trades were a plus list was sent over to me, I selected something from the list, and two others on that same list came as extras. To me, it's all in the OP's or responder's perception of the meaning of a plus.

Agree somewhat. It erks me a little when i see it because i think, "well why not just list the plus in the original offer". not sure it has much to do with abuse but it's more of an annoyance. PM is understandable on some other forums where you have to accept a message before viewing it, but here it just tells me that that person is trying to be territorial and telling other traders "hey i already messaged him so back off". In either case you post a fuck ton of threads on here.
