My only complaint about On The Daly was that I didn't buy more of it. Great beer and a nice change from "all DDH, all hazy IPA" all the time.

A weekday release, in theory, is something people are less likely to travel multiple hours, often across states, to get to. It's a better option for people who can't often make it on Saturday mornings, or people in the NY area after work.

You missing out is kind of the point. It's not like they're going to stop releasing on the weekends, and none of these ideas are totally foolproof. No one is asking for preferential treatment. OH's production has grown, but they still haven't been able to meet their larger growing demand(outside of most double batches). People are frustrated that with the growth in demand they haven't done much to get the beer in more hands out of the brewery.

Have to say I love reading this thread even from across the Atlantic! Joking aside some great debate about the state of the craft beer industry. Is there anyone in the US (of similar size) using an online model like Cloudwater http://cloudwaterbrew.co/store was great this week to be able to go on and order some 6 packs to get delivered?

Coir Boiz - wow, worst OH beer ever. Untappd rating of 4.15 is a joke.

I thought the aroma worked more the taste (smelled more like a lime-y coconut cocktail than a beer), but certainly not consider it the worst OH beer I've ever had. Given the premise (a DIPA with coconut), I can't think of too much I'd change, which signifies solid execution, IMO.

Grape Conversate, recent batch of Green Diamonds, Dancing Green Diamonds... just a few of the OH beers that I enjoyed far less than Coir Boiz.

Fair points as have not had those other beers you noted. Plus, I know some of their stouts did not turn out so well.

For discussion sake, should one rate it on the execution of the concept/style, overall taste, or both? I think it is fascinating that amazing goses do not get rated higher but think it is due to people rating on style vs. execution. Pilsners and kolschs are probably in that same category. Why should every IPA start with a 4+ rating?

i kinda like the meatier coconut in this (vs smooth beats miami, which is still better) but i agree it's not one of the better OH beers i've had. and i liked grape conversate!

That's probably the biggest problem with Untappd ratings. A super well done lager or kolsch will be at 3.90 while a mediocre DIPA from a well-known brewery is in the 4.1 range to start

I dont think its "locals" so much as "locals" are probably the ones that were coming by from day one since a brewery opened a few blocks away from where they live. I for one would being a local that has been going to OH from the beginning would love releases like Tree House and Kane where they announce what they release when they open to help avoid some of the crazy lines.

Cleaning out the stragglers tonight. If anyone has a Double Dribble in the fridge, crack it. Tastes like an old school can of Dole pineapple juice.

For me at least a Kolsch or a Helles starts at 5 and get .10 deductions from there. (unless fruit or weird hops are added then they start at 0)

This is great to know. I travel to Ireland for work pretty often and would love to get some of this. I've been on the lookout at local bars but always seem to just miss it.

I wanna see how many pages we can hit by Monday so I'll keep the debate going. While I appreciate Andrew coming around before opening to update people online, I've never understood how a brewery can count 200 people in line and tell them, hours before opening, that they are shit outta luck. It's the perfect opportunity to cut limits, they know at that point how much will be sold...

I've heard Andrew directly state that they won't cut limits in situations like that because they feel it's unfair to the people that go there early and wait that long to get the beer. The morality (forgive me, I was trying to think of a softer word to use but I'm not smart enough to do so at the present moment) of that policy is relative, but I understand the sentiment given the current context.

Other Half clearly likes the attention that their line culture generates and a part of me doesn't really blame them. The idea of owning a brewery that can net that amount of profit in such a short amount of time would be enticing to anyone in that position.

Having said that: a limit of 3 4-packs per person would be ideal, in my opinion.
