Drank a few Rainers when I was in WA, decent enough AAL. It's been many years since I've seen Hamm's, it was also good for what it is. But I'll still stand on make any of them ice cold and any difference is negligible. Discount most malt liquors they mostly suck no matter what you do to them.

Pounders of Gansett are $4.99/6er, hard to beat that price vs quality.

Remarkably similar in that regard their best attribute is being unoffensive when very cold.

Rather than being a light beer, MGD is actually the same "base" beer as High Life (MGD is "cold filtered" and High Life is pasteurized).

They taste dramatically different to me, and I did completely blind tastings of them. MGD is horrifically, undrinkably sweet. High Life was much more crisp and palatable. I cannot account for the absolutely stark contrast.

I wonder if age was a factor. MGD doesn't seem to move very fast around here and I've seen what appear to be the same cartons hanging around for quite some time.

Honestly there is a bit of a gap between 2 and 3 and I don't think I've only ever crushed beer in the sense the OP means once and that was pitchers of Yeungling with friends.

I recently bought a 12-pack of Lord Chesterfield cans. I will be discussing this beer in an upcoming NBS thread.

    Cheers!

Miller High Life never does the gag thing, warm or while chugging cold. It's pretty smooth.
Coors Banquet is interestingly high-toned and best cool to cold. Actually tasty.
I'm working from memory here, but Hamm's was a beer that we bought by the case out west back in the early 70s. We always loved it. I took my '67 Plymouth Valiant on two tours of America, and Hamm's was a staple. We moved cans constantly to the cooler in the back seat (from the trunk). We drove from Richmond Va. to The Grand Canyon, to San Diego, up the coast all the way to British Columbia. We were in our 20s and never seemed to get very drunk. Good memories. I still like the modern rendition of Hamm's, but almost never see it around.
