Short's Brewing Releases & Updates (2018)

I gotta hand it to you, yer great at 2 things:

1) Answering questions here pretty quickly
2) Teasing the hell out of upcoming releases.

 

All I know is between Slurm Lord, Hazy Controversiale, Variety pack 5.0, and Cat Grass next Wednesday, Shorts is going to be getting alot of my money. Not to mention I'm going to the pub in couple weeks!

 

I picked up singles of Pineapple Pilsner and Spruce Pilsner today, looking forward to them.

 

You guys have resolved that problem. 6 months ago stuff arrived with 3 weeks or more on it - for the last 2-3 months it's been 7-10 days consistently - thanks for that!

 

Speaking of fresh, will you guys be providing a list of all the places getting Psychedelic Cat Grass again this year?

Well Hazy is pretty good. @SeanfromShorts Your spot on about this going down easy. Hope this takes the place of regular Controversiale in the yearly line up.

 

Praying Cleveland-area shops break up the variety packs because I am ready to buy the shit out of as much Spruce Pils as I can find

 

Just drank my first Spruce from this batch, unbelievable. Probably the best batch that I've ever had!

 

Damn, there seems to be a lot of good vibes about this beer. Might this guy venture out of his IPA world for a bit.... Hoping local shop breaks down a 12 pack also. Should I grab anything else?

 

@SeanfromShorts don't forget Houghton this year with Grass. We did get a case last year and it was easily my favorite new beer last year.

Drank a Hazy and it went down soft... and fast.
Enjoying a Pineapple Pilsner right now and thinking it would go great with Korean BBQ.
And Cat Grass is next week.
My liver is groaning. At least the lagers will keep in the fridge for a while.

 

I just scooped Spruce Pils from the pub this weekend, and the first thing I noticed was this is far from the yellowy color I am used to. It is more coppery colored and a bit sweeter than years past. I will admit this is a bit more balanced, but I miss the corny, hazy spruce pils that I am used to. What changed this year?

 

Two days till Cat Grass! Here's a refresher for old hands, and a primer for folks new to Short's:



Is it a gimmick? An event? A damn good brew? Yes, yes, and yes!

"Psychedelic Cat Grass (7.6% ABV – 72 IBU) is a triple dry hopped American India Pale Ale first brewed for HopCat. Aromas of pineapple, mango, and grapefruit accompany the brew’s slightly hazy, pale orange color and lasting white head. A dry finish is preceded by balanced flavors of tropical fruit and bitter hops."

Kegs, 6 pack bottles, and 4pack pint cans(!) this year.

While Cat Grass is pretty delicious, for me it's the ridiculous aroma the beer produces that makes it stand out.


The only hitch is that I haven't seen a list of stores getting Cat Grass yet, although I think the list was revealed and updated pretty last minute last year, too. Maybe it's the nature of the release.

Currently drinking a Bellaire Brown bottled 8/2/17. Can't get enough of these fresh Shorts Brews!

 

Patiently waiting for that list to come out as I'll be driving up north to St. Ignace on Wednesday. Zodiac liquor store in St. Ignace wasn't on last years list but White's Market in Marquette is and that's my destination on Thursday. Hopefully there will be something left.

 

White's is excellent, but if your out of luck there try MI Made, they might be able to grab a case. Depending on the time you get there, White's, you should have a good chance.... so pretty much the earlier the better. Distro hits my area around 1:00 so Marq is most likely around 10:00ish depending on the store.
Hope you can find some. Was an excellent experience last year and looking forward to enjoying a sixer, or cans, again this year.
