Wanted to give a rundown of my PDX visit which my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed. Perhaps this can help guide people who are visiting soon. Wed starting at noon... Commons had some solid tap offerings in a very quiet space... Headed to Rogue to get a couple of drafts that aren't widely available, nice outside space but there was two different songs always playing in the outside area. Walked to Growler Guys and downed a couple of flights and picked up some local bottles. The selection here was great and the beertender was helpful. We had a good selection of local pilsners and IPAs. Uber'd to Imperial Bottle Shop and split a beer and picked up some more bottles (Father of All Tsunamis). The bottle prices here were very solid. Walked to Pok Pok and ate a shit-ton of wings. Walked back to Imperial to have more beer before back to our spot for a power nap. Uber'd to Bridgetown Beerhouse and had a couple drafts and picked up some cans of 3-Way IPA. Walked to StormBreaker (Kristalweizen was good, the beertender's recommended IPA was awful), continued to Ecliptic whose session Barleywine was awesome and had some more grub here. Uber'd to Great Notion to meet our friend and end the night with some Ft. George taps as well. 1/3 Matryoshka 2/3 Double Stack was a favorite blend. Thurs... Ate late breakfast at Pine States Biscuits (jesus christ, this was delicious). Had a pint at Apex whose selection had a ton of highly rated beers on tap. Got to tick a couple Boneyard IPAs.BeerMongers was next and downed a BA stout from Rueben's. On to HotD where the head brewer's wife served us and was a great host. We bought a couple bottles to open in-house. Then spent a good amount of time playing soccer-pool at Loyal Legion Pub who had 97 taps from the PNW. The selection was slightly overwhelming. Power nap ensued. Woke up and had Marukin Ramen for dinner. My buddy enjoyed it but I may of been spoiled having ramen in Okinawa for a month earlier this year while there for work, but they had Okinawa's local beer in cans which was cool. Uber'd to Ex-Novoand my buddy took down a flight. Walked up to Tin Bucket whose tap list was also very stellar. Back to the air bnb to drink a couple bottles on the porch. Fri... Early lunch at Lardo where we split some pastrami concoction and another sandwich. Headed dt and hit 10 Barrel because we hate life and then a few tasters at Back Pedal. Walked to Fat Head's for a couple flights and onward to Bailey's/Upper Lip where we had some tasters and purchased a solid local BA stout upstairs while we waited for Tugboat to open. Had a couple beers in Tugboat and found out the chick who owned the place and was serving us also was serving ~25 years ago when my father visited often while in Portland for work. Played some video games at Ground Kontrol before heading back to the air bnb to wait for our friend and ending the evening at Great Notion. Overall, I really enjoyed Portland and would definitely make another visit. We didn't spend too much time in "downtown" but I really enjoyed the more laid-back areas we spent time in which are reminiscent of the areas outside downtown San Diego here. Walking in the quiet neighborhoods was an excellent way to relax.
Good call! With the plethora of stops we had I forgot to mention we went there after fatheads and refueled on some food along with a couple barrel aged pours.
