Today was weird. We had people trying to lap the line, which typically doesn't happen. Our intended effect of cutting the limit to 2 was to to allow people who were buying an allotment of Alpha Twins to get a small optional bonus. It clearly didn't work that way as we sold 120 allotments of QDH in the time we sold 60 or 70 of Alpha Twins.

I do believe the mule game was strong with some, but I've hosted enough of our releases to know that often couples will each have a few beers but only buy one case. I don't blame couples for using their double allotment on QDH since the limit was so low. I just (ignorantly) didn't think about it.

Slight tangent, I think it's funny QDH didn't move as quickly (in terms of allotments) as Alpha Twins. The Twins were cheaper (per can) and I think it's a slightly better beer overall. Not that QDH is bad, but I think AT is probably my favorite DIPA we've made.

Last thing for now - I know I've been posting a lot lately, and some might find that annoying from a brewery employee. Apologies. While I'm obviously selling, my larger motivation is that we had/are having now/will have a bunch of events this week that are likely to draw people from this forum, and I want any of you that attend to have a good experience at those events. You guys have been awesome supporters and I want to give you the inside scoop. I promise I'll STFU for a while after this weekend.

If anyone makes it out to the main event tomorrow, say hi. We wouldn't be where we are without you.

I appreciate the feedback. We thought the yield would be higher. Once we saw the yield, we decided selling it was better than not selling it. Hence the limit cut. It was never intended to be the main feature of the release, Alpha Twins was. If we intended it to be the focus, we'd have brewed a big batch. We'll come close to losing money on it given the low yield. The intent was really just to offer a small amount of something fun as a bonus to people coming out for other things related to our anniversary. Good idea? Probably not, but I'm glad we did it. I'm proud of the way the beer came out and I'm glad people get to try it.

Thanks. We are always trying to get better. I hope you (and others) feel like we've gotten better over time, with the exception of occasional minor issues like this.

Also, I don't think I know your real name but I'll never forget asking your buddy if he was fitshaced at one of the releases. He looked SOOO confused.

Haha that was awesome. I remember it. My name is Davey and I always wear a hat. Usually a Device brewing hat from California. I haven't seen you at a release in a long time

I'm at about half now for about the first hour or two. If I think it'll be slammed I come to help. I love hanging and drinking with BAs, but I've got kids who are 12 and 9.

Just camp out at Monkish for the next two weeks!

Also, @Fitshaced, I didn't go to the release. I work and have young kids, I just figured it was obvious that QDH would fly, even at 2 cans per person. The first batch is still the best thing I've had from QDH, and I know a ton of others that agree and were there.

Definitely don't stop posting! We all appreciate getting the inside scoop. I thought the release went pretty well yesterday from my standpoint. I'm sure there were some people that took advantage of it but that's hard to control. I got there at 12:10 and was about #10 in line. My buddy who came didn't want his two qdh cans so I traded him two alpha twins out of the 4 4packs I bought for them. I don't really see a problem with it but some might. At least I didn't try and double back and get more. I thought alpha twins was actually a better beer also. I'm sure qdh is still quite green and will taste better after a bit in the can, but that alpha twins with the lactose was on point. I know you put out a release calendar a while ago but I have no idea where to find it. Hoping for a return soon of Hopperella, Papa Silenus, I-P-Alien, Hop Hackin Henry, and maybe some Holidayfan and Superduperfan again this year!

I was able to stop by Odd13 on Barrel Day at 230 and was like 5th or 6th in line. Everything was silky smooth and I really enjoyed the Newcole. On IPA day I arrived at about 2:30 (because of work) and was told QDH was sold out. I picked up two four packs of AT. AT is hands down my favorite DIPA I've had in years. A bit disappointed I wasn't able to buy a can of QDH, but I doubt it's as good as AT. Keep up the great work Odd13!

Thanks! Anniversaries always make me emotional, so let me take the time to thank you for supporting so many different events.

Like I said before in this thread, Alpha Twins is probably better than QDH. Obviously that's subjective. It is 100% my favorite DIPA we've ever made. Also subjective. We've learned some things about how to make our heavily hopped beers less harsh via process and recipe formulation. I appreciate the feedback you guys here have provided!

Probably a dumb question, but are there any cans of AT remaining?

Here now and there's a bunch left! 50+ cases probably. Can also confirm that it's very good, if a tad green at the moment.
