Loved smoking cigars in the "outdoor" area

The father of my friends was a barback at the Goat sometime in the 70s. He has all sorts of stories, including the fact that the former owner (who passed away a couple years ago) gave him a room and job after he got out of the Navy. The former owner also insisted my friend's dad go to college, and even laid for part of it. I'd say definitely that it's one of the, if not THE, oldest continuous "beer bar" in OC.

(I also agree though that the "smoking" area sucks.)

Is this place still open? Haven't been in years.

HELL YEAH it's still open ... it will be a sad day if Goat ever closes. Weren't they in the Guinness Book of World Records at one point for having the most beers on tap??

Looks like something changed, while under new management the Anthill Pub will be back per their FB!
    Anthill FB
They'll be closed from 7/26-9/18, Scot will still be managing and hopefully keeping on as many folks as want to continue. Hopefully not too many changes, but they will be accepting credit cards which always helps.

I've always been curious about people going to Anthill pub. Are there a lot of older beer geeks or older people in general who go there?? I was at UCI from 2000-2004 and although I never remember going to the pub, I also don't ever remember seeing or hearing about non-students down around the student center area (although, granted, I wasn't particularly paying attention to that). Aside from that, where is easy parking? I got a ticket just before graduation for parking in the lot where Eureka is now and walking across the bridge to the administration building. Just seems like a busy place like a college campus wouldn't be worth it to go even for a solid beer selection, I guess unless you worked there.

I wasn't a student there but I used to go often in 2005/2006. Before Beachwood SB opened, anthill was probably the best beer bar in OC, and they used to always hav Pliny on tap. That was a big deal 10 years ago

Just had lunch at Meat Up BBQ in Placentia. Solid taplist and delicious food. And I picked up a couple bottles of FO and Number Crunch to go. The guy said they still have more of both available. Have at it!

I'm looking for a place near the Greek Theater for food and beer. I'll be in Burbank area Sunday afternoon (Creature Feature) and then a concert Sunday night at the Greek Theater. I'm not going to drive back home to HB and drive back to the Greek for the concert. I see Tony's Darts and Glendale Tap is in the area close to the Greek. But it looks like Glendale Tap has no food. But a great tap list. Any good places to eat around Glendale Tap? Highland Park is do-able, but still a bit of drive back to the Greek. Thx in advance.

Glendale Tap does have food trucks that park outside somewhat frequently, but the Morrison might be more of what you are looking for. Not as expansive of a list as Glendale tap but they usually have a few gems.

I'd say Tony's, especially if you're already going to be in Burbank. Not a fan of the Morrison; have yet to encounter these "gems" that @androidm speaks of. If you're into kabob, Spitz on Hillhurst has much better taps than the Morrison.

Granted only been to the Morrison a handful of times, but I must have gotten lucky and I guess I'm using gem a little loosley. First time I was there I had KBS, Vietnamese Speedway & and i wish i can remember the IPA... but it was something I had been wanting to try. And the most recent time having fresh lush on happy hour isn't a bad thing. Granted nothing to go crazy over especially with the depth Glendale Tap has on the regular a few blocks away. But going somewhere for the food first and beer list second I usually find a one or two taps to enjoy with the food. And if I'm doing any more drinking I'll probably move on to different location. But now I have a new place to try as I never been to Spitz

Whoa, have never had anything close to that at Morrison. I'll have to stop by again more often; I'm literally two blocks away. Still, though: Tony's.

There's also Mohawk Bend since it's kind of closer to the Greek.

Stopped in Tony's Darts Away in Burbank. Nice place. Kinda reminds me of Toronado SF. The atmosphere. Had the wife with me. I had the Street Meat sausage and she the Chili. That was the worst chili ever. Should of called it spaghetti sauce. No complaint with Street Meat. Spot on. Everything on tap I had before so I went with Plinyx2. And no I wasn't about to give up the sausage to the ole lady. No way!

    That's too easy, my dude.

You visit any other local spots like Verdugo West or Glendale Tap?
