Agreed. They definitely run a little thin. But I've accepted that, haved move on from it, and enjoy every release.

My guess is the location. Pretty much everything I've had from them is solid to excellent.

Seems like Dark Horse Bourbon BA Toonilla is hitting the area.

I had El Zacaton this week. Big fan. Certainly sweet but it's an adjunct party and I was happy to be invited. Probably ideal for the 5ish oz range. I would struggle with 12oz I think.

Big announcement coming from Rev. All their barrel aged beers will be transitioning to 4-packs of 12 oz. cans this year rather than bombers. They are also releasing 8 difference barrel aged beers.

I LOVE this move and will certainly be tracking down as much of the straight jacket as I can land. I still miss gravedigger billy though.

Not sure how I feel about this. I like the smaller format, but on the other hand, I regard something like Deth's Tar as something akin to wine where you want to share/split the bottle in a communal format. The boxed Deth's Tar bombers made a classy gift for out of market aficionados- not sure I'd get someone a gift of cans....

Very Special Old Deth is by far the most clever and inviting name for a beer. :astonished:

    1. This is awesome and I'm really excited for the two VSOD's.

    2. How is VSO_ not the name for the cognac barrel aged stuff?

Open 2 cans. This is the best goddamn news I've heard all week! VSOJ in cans!??!?? Yes that was the sound of my boner hitting the underside of my desk.

Only messing around, but if you look at their post, it looks like they will be putting the 4x cans in a cool little box, too!

Sadly no VSOJ, they're VSing the Deth's Tar.

It was on last year at the SJ bottle release and it was goddamn ridiculous.

Major bummer. VSOJ is amazing. Hopefully there will be some special kegs.

Sounds like it'll be on tap at the releases. Just not enough for cans this year. The Mineshaft Gap was almost as good for me, and that IS going into cans... so that's awesome.

I think this may be the best news for Chicago beer this year. Huge move by Revolution.

Oak- Aged Vanilla WWS hit downstate today. Shared one last night. Pretty fantastic stout. Tons of boozy oaky tones once it warms up. Vanilla tones down at room temp. At $9.99 per it's steep, but for me was worth grabbing 2 - now & later. Something to keep an eye out for if it hasn't popped yet.

I just grabbed some of these yesterday in northern MI and am drinking my first now. Verdict is still TBD.
