The Half-Acre thread (2018)

If I recall correctly they had 5 or 6 spots where they were serving beer. Some outside some inside. Not sure if that will change with this being the opening of the new Balmoral Tap Room, I'm guessing it will be the same. There were some lines, especially for Big Hugs and Benthic, but nothing unreasonable and I got all my beers within a few minutes. Food was served outside and there was a line, maybe 10 minutes. Food (tacos) was just one line I believe.

 

Are they going for the mock Pina Colada? Tropical fruit (via the hop flavors) and coconut (no coconut flavored hops so had to use real)....

Full pours or samples? The Saturday me wants full pours. The Sunday me is terrified of full pours.

 

Pretty sure it was full pours last year. People were dumping parts just to stay above water.

 

You can specify, when I didn't specify it was basically full pours. As the day went on I usually asked for like a quarter pour.

 

Howdy Chicagoans and Chicago-beer-lovers... in town for several months (from Colorado) and looking forward to Big North. Looks like a great taplist and some interesting bands...see a few of you there.

 

How many people will be attending Big North this year? Any guesstimates? (who all is attending?)

I'll be there in a group of 6, soooo… 6 people + eppCOS is 7 at least right there.

Glad that Daisy Toronado is on that list... have to revisit. Found it impressive, and better than the usual D.C. All the experimental/wild/sour/BA-stuff is gonna kick my ass, so will have to baby those...

I'll also be missing big north for a wedding. While you're all drinking endangered whalez, I'll be drinking High Life out of a red solo cup. I'll think to myself "I don't remember high life tasting salty." And then I'll realize it is because I've created a high life adjunct - high life with tears.

I'll be at Two Brothers for mine, so I'll be in slightly better shape than you. Although, High Life is in my wheel house and can crush it all day...at least the Saturday me can. Hopefully I can make Big N next year.
