Naw. I was going to stop at Glendale Tap but the wife was a bit hungry still. So we drove down to Beachwood LB. I had tix to Deep Purple at the Greek that night. That was part of the plan after my stop at Creatures Feature (near Tony's). But I sold my ticket last minute Sat night. Otherwise I would of hit Glendale Tap. It's all good. Made out on the tickets >$200 in the pocket. More beer money. And got the wife some proper dinner. I don't think she'll go back to Tony's if I ever make it back there. Hey, I told her to get the sausage.

First it was Dude's at Pacific City now Bootlegger's in Costa Mesa. Why can't a brewery worth getting excited about move to this part of town?!? Maybe if we're lucky Hoparazzi or Iron Triangle will open a spot in this area next.

Maybe some of you here remember when the Boot was the sh!te with their release of knuckle sandwhich. I didn't even know they opened a second location. And haven't heard boot legger's name here in a long time. darn.

Yeah, them having a second location came as a surprise to me. In Redlands no less!

I guess all the drunk bros funneling through DTF on a weekly basis provide enough capital for their expansion.

Just moved up to the LA area (La Crescenta), checked out Glendale Tap yesterday to find KRBC Citra on draft. Awesome beer bar with an upscale dive feel, as if that's a thing.

Recommendations for bottle shops in the Burbank/Glendale/LA area?

Handy Market in Burbank, Bill's Liquors in Atwater (just south of Glendale).

I second JayORear 's recommendations. Plus Craft Beer Cellar in Eagle Rock isn't too far away from there (they have taps). Sunset Beer has a good selection and taps if you're willing to go that direction.

I also highly recommend tacos from El Sauz (right down the street from GT). Cash only.

    ^^^These, definitely.

Also: Welcome! I've been here about 4 years and it's a gem if you aren't eating a terrible commute into LA. Easy shot into Highland Park/Eagle Rock/DTLA on the 2 and rare stretch of freeways (2, 210 through Pasadena) that aren't as jammed as the rest of the god-forsaken basin.

Bars in Montrose, both on Honolulu: Basin 141 & Thee Elbow Room. Nothing close to Glendale Tap, but both have decent rotating taps and are easy walking distance from one another (with Avignon's in between, if you need a dive experience to balance you out).

Highland Park Brewery. It's in The Hermosillo on York in HP. They miiiight have a quesadilla.

Vendome La CaƱada: worst of LA's Vendomes, but still decent. They have a Bottle Logic account and stuff sits around--clientele is mostly there for wine, as you can imagine from the neighborhood.

Craft Beer Cellar (Eagle Rock): busier bottle shop with 6 or so rotating taps and a bar. Usual suspects here--Bottle Logic and hazy cans sell out quick, but not as quick as elsewhere in LA/OC. Added plus: you can grab anything from the store and drink it in the bar.

@antsmarching777 shoot me a PM if need anything further... welcome to the 'hood.

EDIT: @SoCalBeerIdiot beat me to CBC... my bad.

It was really good! I almost forgot what awesome non-hazy IPAs are like.

Thanks for all the replies. I love Montrose and all the bars along the main street. We've already hit up Wednesday night pub trivia at Thee Elbow Room. Lots of good beer in the area so it's been a pleasant transition so far. I look forward to checking out some of these bottle shops and trying more local beers.

Any opinions on Verdugo West? I haven't checked it out yet, is it worth the time?

Not yet but it seems they are putting some thought and time into their sour program, i.e. No kettle sours, all proper wild sours. They are just beginning to age their sours in barrels which will make it even better. Their Regular beers were nothing to write home about. I would never go there for them. But I think this sours have potential and will get better with time.
