Third in line! I always have a solid 1" plus of head in my Weizen glass from a Schell's bottle.
    Typically use this method: http://thebeginnersbrew.com/how-to-pour-a-wheat-beer/

The sediment tends to turn it slightly hazy as well.

Good point about the hazy appearance. I don't recall ever pouring a Schell's hefe where it did not have a nice head and a hazy look. When I compared Utepils & Schell's hefes side-by-side ... the appearance was not just close, but identical - color, hazy, head, all of it!

When I did my comparison tasting, the Schells was poured into a Lupulin nonic glass (dry glass). I just poured a Schells into a Weizen glass (wet) with the inverted bottle pour technique (with the bottle swirl and pour at the end). This latest pour resulted in a two finger head at the onset, consistent lacing to the bottom, and a drop down haze from the yeast.
I then did a similar can pour of the Utepils. This pour showed a similar head to the Schells, but it dissipated faster. The haze was present but did not persist to the end of the glass.

Both the Schells and the Utepils are tasty, but I did not get to do a side by side taste comparison this time.

I'm late to the game here, but I had the Utepils Hefe for the first time a few days ago, and was really impressed. I'd really like to do a side-by-side with Schell's to see where they both stand flavor wise. However, Utepils wins on packaging. Their 16oz cans fills my hefe glass much better than Schell's 12oz.

But at a significantly higher cost. Luckily my wife likes hefe as well so I just open 3 Schell's for the two weizen glasses!

The Schell's 12 oz size fills my hefe glass to the very top with a huge head of foam when I dump it in. I wish Schell's would also put their Hefe in cans but I'm don't see that happening unfortunately.

Ha, I never have a problem opening 2 hefe's at once either.

Has a brewery in Minnesota ever tried to brew a wheat bock worth seeking out?

Schells just had Banana's foster which was a great weizen bock.

Their Snowstorm Weizen doppelbock from a few years ago was really good too.

Simply liking your post doesn't quite go far enough in expressing how much I agree with your statement. That was a damn fine beer.

I must of been sleeping under a rock bc I don't recall this and would definitely be all over it. Given it was part of the snowstorm series I assume this came out near the holidays?

Well, looking at this site and the 'other' site, it was brewed 7 years ago! :astonished: To answer your question: yes, it was released November/December as the Snowstorm series usually is.

Was definitely up here and well into craft beer at that time, but I agree 2010 doesn't seem too long ago. I mean that's when target field opened. Seems like yesterday...

I gave it a 4.55 back in the day.

A-Burnt Umber colored...nice frothy tan head

S-Mashed banana's, vanilla pudding, brown sugar, light cocoa, light caramel, some nuttiness..

T-This is really tasty...best way I can describe it....Banana Cream Pie sprinkled with brown sugar and drizzled with light caramel and nuts..

M-Medium bodied...I'm getting kind of picky here but it could perhaps use a slight bump in body and booziness on the feel but no complaints here.

D-A flat-out winner by Schells. I love this beer. Right up there with the 2008 Snowstorm for the best of the last ten years. (I never had the plum beer of years ago but heard it was awesome). I will drink a lot of this. Great beer

I did not give that Snowstorm a very high score. Looking at my review and recalling what I thought at the time, I was really turned off by it being a filtered and pasterurized weizen. But it was a lot better than the Schell's Weizenbock that they released in 2014. That was a big disappointment. But the Banana Fosters is really good.
