I've noticed a change back in May with Choc Rain 2017. Notes indicated watered down body. I don't remember Choc Rain being so translucent but I need to open a vintage 2013 to compare. People have reported a decline in the quality of the weekday variants, but again, I don't know if there is an obvious change in the batch or if I'm just completely over the weekday beers and prefer drinking BL. Maybe both.

I can understand your initial reaction. I felt the same. Their email did say that they are, "...required to charge a nominal amount...". I remember that when Bevmo used to have tastings, they charged you a dime or something b/c of ABC laws. Maybe they realized they have been in violation and needed to charge. Additionally, they are including a glass this time (which is nice...at least it's not a pair of sunglasses...lol) and a catered lunch. I can see the charge used to also deter everyone from trying to get a ticket and then not show up. I've been to many of these and there were constantly no-shows and then it would go from 50 people to only 20 showing up the day of. $15 seems like a right amount to deter people from doing that again.

I will say it first, who wants to trustee for me in DC next year?

I was hoping it would be further South but I understand the reasoning for the location. Atlanta would have been an excellent spot since I would have pestered them for a job, but the savings on shipping alone from DC will be a welcome change regardless. Flights are also cheaper to DC.

Really psyched about the east coast store. I wasn't planning to renew my membership, but this is definitely an incentive to hang on to it.

Well damn I guess I will go back and peruse this thread since opening up an east coast store. Anyone want to cliffs notes? Wow this was worth it! or Meh. These "x" were the best beers! These "y" were drain pours or is this just all too much right now?

Hooray for the East Coast store!

Are there any plans to offer shipping to East Coast destinations from the store? Or will it be in-person pickup only?

I agree but it sounds like when opting to renew next month you will have the option to pick CA vs DC and the memberships are the same except DC will have an increased price to account for bottles being shipped from CA to DC.

It will be interesting to see how they go about this price difference.

Also there is a thread about this started over in the Mid-Atlantic section if we want to continue there and not hijack this one?

You'd rather pay shipping and have to work out a trustee when all you have to do is drive to DC from Jersey or Georgia every now and then? Shit, even the 13+ hour drive from Tampa is a huge savings for me. Plus I need a quarterly road trip.

DC is a great town for a quarterly road trip too.

I know for a fact I'll be buying more beer, with the DC pickup center. What great news, I'm psyched! Thank you Bruery!

They have to figure a way to reconstruct the Societies since their local approval is dramatically dipping, amirite?
