Yep this version of War Elephant is a palate wrecker. Holy hop bomb, Batman. I love beers that really push it with the hop bitterness without just being a bittery mess. This is that beer. I dunna how many of these I could drink in a row, but I'm impressed.

By contrast, the RDR+D Galaxy is really well balanced and super sessionable. So citrusy.

I dunna how people sleep on this place. If you were coming from the East to go to Equilibrium today, I dunna how you wouldn't stop here as well, especially with these cans available.

 

The main reason I made sure to make it over there yesterday when I had time. I had to work today and thought they could possibly get hit up by the Equilibrium crowd before I got there. I also couldn't make it on Thursday.

Had a bit of a FOMO moment....

Just made it in before their 8PM closing yesterday.

The two employees didn't seem at all bothered by our late arrival. I ordered a flight although I didn't need that much beer.

Everything was tasty but the Beanhead was my favorite. I really enjoyed the R & D beer and the zingerbier. War Elephant was nice and very much as aggressive as yall had led me to believe.

It was a brief trip but pleasant. The taproom was way smaller than I expected and a bit hard to find, which also surprised me.

 

Driving around that circle a couple of times is like a rite of passage. We've all done it

Haha even I had a bit of a prob. finding it first time, and I know Chester.

 

I wonder how they would expand, if that's ever in the cards.

 

They installed a much larger brewing system about a year ago increasing capacity a lot and probably to the most that space can handle. But there are plans to open a bar in another building on the same property which should increase parking a little and give more space for drinkers to linger in. The old taproom will be kept as well and that is where bottle and can sales should continue.

 

They're going to utilize that space for the anniversary party this weekend, correct?

 

Hey All,

as someone coming from Queens for the first time up to RD on Saturday, just kind of curious what the turn out for their events and releases usually are?

We have a wedding at noon that day in Long Island, and I am thinking about coming up afterwards to try some beers and really want to grab a bottle of each barleywine. If I got there around 6, would I likely be able to grab one of each? Not sure if they announced, or ever announce counts.

You'll probably be fine, their releases are usually mellow, and the beers tend to last.

 

It will be busier than normal because of the Anniversary party. Awesome tap list
But I wouldn't expect a shit show.
Pro tip: When you are going around the circle several times and can't find it, you are in the right place.
