I thought it was pretty good. First: it's a good imp stout, even without the peanut, big, rich body and flavor. The peanut is in there, but I found it to be subtle, but then a flavor has to be fairly prominent for me to not think it's subtle. I didn't get much in the way of bourbon, but it may have added to the overall fullness of the beer and some of the sweetness.
Not my favorite of their gold foil stouts, but still worth getting.

The Rumpkin release yesterday was maybe the best fresh batch on draft I've had in a few years. Opened a bottle as well last night that had a bit more heat than the draft version did but still excellent.

It seems to me that each year Rumpkin comes out of the gate smoother than the previous year. Make no mistake it'll still cause you to grow hair in odd places, but it's probably my favorite Fall beer.
A little sweet, rum not as in yo face as earlier releases. Spicing just right.
    Conspicuous by its absence: Pump[KY]n.
I didn't get a chance to ask why no simul-release this time

Alas... Pumpkyn is no more. While many of us at Avery preferred it to Rumpkin in a fight, it just wasn't selling as well and something had to go. Maybe the public was more interested in a rum barrel aged beer, maybe we made a mistake by naming them similarly when they had almost nothing in common, maybe it was just too many Demon strength beers at once. So it goes...

ACK! I'm sorry to see it go, I really enjoyed it and the tandem release with Rumpkin. Now I know to savor the ones I have left

Really going to miss that beer. I liked it better than Rumpkin. The bottles I have left will have to be open at some special occasions I guess.

There are still tons of PumpKYn bottles on shelves all over the place, you can easily stock up if you want.

Tasty solid sour! I'm always surprised Avery doesn't get more love for their sours.

Looking back on these posts, this was one of the best sour beers ive ever had in my entire life. Did you end up ever trying it? @Dan_Inreallife
