Cisco getting in on a NEIPA with this 16oz canned offering.

Has anybody seen this around stores? I had a can last night and it impressed me. Cisco has done an amazing job pushing their wholly mediocre beer over a pretty large footprint, but this is one I'd like to seek out

Can find too much info other than it looks to be citra and Nelson.

Saw it at 5th Ave in Millis a creme de la creme store, so other top tier stores should have it.

This reminds me. 1620 by Ipswich is fantastic. Had it side by side with a couple Trillium and it was better to me

Hadn't heard about this! Is it a brewery only offering or is it hitting distro?

Thanks for the heads up either way.

Oh, and interested to try the Cisco too. I've never found them hugely interesting myself but I admittedly haven't had many of their offerings.

The can I had last night was super hazy, juicy and soft. It looked identical to TH/Trillium. The sample was from a friend who works for a distributor and I remember pouring it and being like "whoa, I am interested..."

Today, I found a 4 pack in Beverly and, while a nice beer, it was totally different. No haze, pretty substantial bitter back end

Ymmv, but nice effort by Cisco nonetheless

Except the sours...the woods series are some of the most slept on sours around

Until they are better used on a salad which most in the stores are at this point.

Wait, people are finding this juicy and hazy? The can I had last week was dank, earthy, and oily. Much more West Coast than New England.

I was starting to wonder if they retooled this recipe, because Madaquet DIPA has been around for a while and definitely wasn't a New England style IPA.

I saw it at Provisions in Northhampton yesterday. I passed. Got some Aeronaut that's pretty tasty though.

I saw this tweeted out and was curious, but at the same time, I wasn't that curious.

Luckily I don't constantly crave a New England style IPA, so when I want one, I just pick up some Trillium...like I did this weekend. Or have it on draft somewhere.

I see lots of threads in which people are claiming, "This beer is just like Tree House/Trillium", and I'm typically disappointed. The ratings aren't the be-all end-all, but they do a decent job of pointing you in the right direction. When I see a beer get some ratings close to those of Trillium/Tree House, I grab one if I see it.

And in Trillium's case, the ratings certainly aren't due to rarity, you can stroll into Fort Point any day of the week and pick up their beer. Even the higher rated beers (like DDH Fort Point) don't sell out in a day and are fairly easy to come by.

This release is a different recipe from the bombers they have put out in the past

I was surprised at how good it was. Expected it to be a malt bomb. It was not. I'd say, struck a nice balance between NEIPA and West Coast.

They had this at Berman's in Lexington today if anyone is in that area. I passed on it for now because I've got too many IPAs in my fridge as it is at the moment. Didn't see a price tag on it.

I had 1620 on draft at the brewery and in crowlers to go. I was impressed by the offering, especially as an offering in the Trillium-starved north shore. It would be great if a Cisco didn't suck, since they have a brew pub in Terminal B at Logan that is almost always a pass. In terms of other breweries that I have avoided that have made some interesting stuff, Bent Water has made a couple of good beers in Tugboat and Sluice Juice, though the latter may have a little too much rind for some. Despite all of the various offerings in existing and rekindled quality NEIPAs, I still find that many stores have limited supply of the style, particularly by Sunday or Monday. I suppose the moment we can always find them will be the moment we move on to Pilsners (not that many folks aren't already there or never left).

This is really what the beer is about. It's tropical, piney back end and pretty light body for 8% with little malt presence. $13/4 pack is tolerable

I don't think it hit the mark for what they were going for but it's ::easily:: the best IPA Cisco has made (not saying much) but certainly a nice surprise.

If they put this out fresh throughout the year, I would pick it up regularly

Added the new version to the DB last night. The ABV is a notch higher at 8%. Not a bad beer but only a trace of NEIPA character. Lacking the tropical fruit throughout and the malt bill/mouthfeel is straight up west coast.

Oof. Huge, huge miss for me. They missed on the look, feel, smell, and most of all the taste. It's truly remarkable how far off this is. It's an okay dipa but in no way shape or form NE style. A con job really.
