Beers that taste like bread

North Coast - Scrimshaw

 

Just had a Chimay White (Cinq Cents) yesterday. It has a a fresh apple/white grape aroma & flavor, but is underlain by a just-out-of-the-oven-just-sliced bread flavor.

2015 Horseheads Pumpkin was very bready (+ vegetal, light on the spice), the '16 less so. '17? Maybe worth checking out?

Is pie crust in the equation? If so, The Farmhouse's annual Rhub Hollar delivers that.

Any good oktoberfest should taste bready and crackery. This year's Sierra Nevada version is crackery to the core.

 

I was always afraid to ask about that one, even though I knew what it meant. My problem is that I am fascinated by and love real words. Laugh out loud!

Fat Tire tastes live bread to me.

 

Really surprised nobody mentioned blonde ales. As general as the style is, for some reason I usually get a nice crust-like breadiness from them. Bonus points if they are hoped correctly, which can really taste just like a nice herb bread. Nelson in particular goes well with blondes.

 

Von Trap Dunkel is pure liquid bread

 

Kvass; everyone of them.

 

The styles for you are dunkel lager, brown ale, amber ale (both American and Belgian), dubbel, and most bocks.

 

Beers with Belgian yeast.

Brouwerij Het Anker's Gouden Carolus Cuvée Van De Keizer Blauw with 10/11% ABV. Very tasty.

 

this years sierra nevada oktoberfest is GOOD, the kellerweis i can go without

 

Stevens Point St. Benedict's Winter Ale tastes like liquid toast

 

Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen is the breadiest beer I have ever had. It also happens to be delicious.

 

Besides being the season for it, Southern Tier Pumking is the closest I've ever experienced to liquid bread. (pretty much liquid pumpkin spice bread)

 

Devil's Backbone Vienna Lager. Very biscuit-esque
