There's not a specific thread for breweries coming to Chicago (and I'm not sure there should be with all of the individual threads), but 2nd Shift (STL) is finally hitting distribution here this week! I've been waiting for this for a year and a half now. One of my favorite STL breweries. I'm already excited for the next LSD release when I won't have to travel!

I heard through a friend, Founders CBS in 4 packs is hitting stores week after black friday. Can't find anything in the threads on this site though or via founders social media to substantiate. Anybody here any other details?

I would love to see CBS in bottles released again, but I'll believe it when I see it. I heard it directly from a bartender at Founders who was serving me CBS at the time that they would release bottles of it 'this year'.... that was in 2015. So I'd taper my expectations a bit.

But I sure would love it if it ever true.

Ok, got a bit more detail. Friend mentioned he was speaking to a local binnys manager. Binnys manager stated bombers/4 packs but a limited amount. I will also believe when I see it. However, last year I was able to get a few pours of CBS on site at Founders barrel event. Thus looks like the safest bet is to monitor founders social media the next few months and just make a trek to grand rapids.

There will be bottles of CBS in Dec. I have also heard this from a Binny's manager, but also directly from a Founders employee. I know my source sounds nebulous, but I'm not going to jeopardize anyone's job here. So that's the best I can do. It sounds like there will be less of it than other barrel aged series releases from this year (which makes some sense) and format could not be confirmed - it may only be bombers or 4 packs. Logic would dictate that both formats will be out based on the way things have been done this year, but that's not necessarily what I was told.

Was the recent Mikkeller Vanilla Milkshake drop just the standard imperial stout or was there any drops of the BA versions anywhere in the City of Chicago?

It is an amazing coffee stout with maple and a little vanilla, and it is terrific, but not barrel aged. I do not believe the Beer Geek Vanilla Maple Shake has a version that is barrel aged. (at least not yet)

As a big fan of this one, I don't really think the BA version was an improvement. I understand seeking it out (I did), but I'm glad this one is "regular" only.

Oh man, I LOVED the BA version. Thought it was one of the best BA vanilla stouts I had all year. :sunglasses:

Never had either and just picked up the regular version. Was currious if anyone has seen the BA version around considering Vanillia Shake hit shelves like a week ago.

I like these 12oz releases, i can buy one w/out spending a lot of money but can always seem to find a bottle or two even if its saught after. Saw the BA Toonila and that has been on my hit list for a while.

Cant wait to try this tonight.

The BA version is neither cheap (I think it retails for like $25) nor easy to find.

When does Clare's Thirsty Ale usually get released? Keep missing this one.

I know everyone's palates differ, but if you're talking about the Dark Horse BBA Toonilla, I wouldn't get your expectations too high. I had it last week and was pretty unimpressed...although that's been the case for me with just about every Dark Horse BA beer (and perhaps even their regular beers).
