Didn't feel like driving to Raleigh, so I settled on Hops Burger Bar in Greensboro , the best burger Ive had anywhere. If you were a funk and sour guy the beer list would excite you, for me it was middling at best.

I'm the guy with the middle name Lilly and the person who designed the label. White Lily is a Southern flour commonly used for biscuits. It's a fun little nod to the rumors of some brewers adding flour to NE IPAs.

We used almost all locally-malted grains to make this obviously not locally invented beer.

Our brewers are excited for the good reception the beer has received, though I'm torn on the whole brewers-using-Untappd thing.

Try it for yourself and see what you think!

    Keep beer fun,
    Sean

The flour/oats thing is definitely not just a rumor, some absolutely have these ingredients added. As long as it tastes good though I don't care what they put in it.

You may not be familiar with Sean's impact on the North Carolina beer scene as what he did to Pop the Cap long predates your arrival at this site. Whether you like Fullsteam's beer or not, the man is the prime reason why the beer scene in North Carolina is what it is today.

Please. I know who Sean is and have nothing but respect for his past initiative to organize a group who lead the repeal of HB392. In terms of my actual "arrival" on this site, to me, that seems to be somewhat irrelevant. The fact of the matter is I have been drinking craft beer since the 80's (locally since the mid 90's). But enough of that as I am starting to feel old as I type this response. In terms of my original post, I commented on the ratebeer ratings (5 star rating by a proud / perhaps over exuberant brewer / assistant brewer?) and I thought it odd that FS jumped on the NE IPA bus in the first place as they pride themselves on creating libations with a link to the South. In turn, Sean chimed in and clarified that point (White Lily = Southern flour) along with the naming of the beer. Will I try the beer? Perhaps. If nothing else as a gesture of respect for Sean and his efforts which your post pointed out.

I'm really digging this White Lily. Great first take on the NE style. Nice work, @peetoteeto.

Thank you so much! I'll pass the good word along to the brewers. Cheers.

lol. What is a "Modern IPA"?

The best I can tell is that it's an IPA that is less bitter than a traditional IPA.

Modern IPA ≠ New England IPA

Long Haul from Bond Bros is really good. Doesn't have that Belgiany flavor that you get with some of theirs, which I like. The galaxy & citra go together very nicely.

I had Burial Dawn of the Supernatural & Consequence of Humanity tonight. Two completely different but both really well done beers.

Supernatural is a fresh hop IPA and you can taste the freshness.

Humanity is a dipa with oranges. Super juicy almost NE style but not cloudy really.

If you live close or are in town Burial's tap list is on point right now. The blueberry/mint saison was really good as well.

I need to give a shout out to Highland's Sign of the Times NEIPA... surprised me and my wife... solid brew, big citrus aroma. As an Asheville local, I seriously can't think of any other IPA/DIPA's brewed locally that I enjoy more than this in the past year or so...
