I know that there are threads about this, but most of them are from a while back...curious what folks are using these days to tote around bottles and cans. I've been using a bruery 2 growler bag for a while and although I like it, I'm leaning towards getting a backpack cooler or something different. Please provide links/pics/whatnot to anything you recommend.

It's a good question. I'm assuming you're talking about walking and not driving. I'll be in Bavaria in a few weeks and I've been thinking about this. I used to just use a standard back pack, but then when I got into photography I needed to incorporate the two, which doesn't work well. I like the bison cooler that @thampel09 suggested but that would require a free hand which I cannot give up so I guess I'm looking for an insulated back pack again. However, I should point out that my main plan right now is to buy beer and immediately return it to the hotel/cooler in the car. I'll be limited beyond that to about 5 or 6 bottles of beer that I can carry with my camera but I think I can live with that - unless someone has a better suggestion.

defnitely interested in backpack style coolers as the bruery bag I am currently using has the shoulder strap and that's what I'm trying to get away from. I often trek into NYC and beyond with mass transit and bottles for shares and lugging around 6 bombers with a shoulder strap really wears on your shoulder.

Timely thread, was just telling my wife I need a new bag. I have an old cheap one that leaks water. As you do, want a backpack as easier to carry when lugging cans in NYC. Do a google search if you don't get any great recos here, there seems to be some good ones that meet the need.

Yeah, I've seen a few nice ones online, but I find it is best to get recs from people who use the stuff for the same purpose as I plan to - ie. stuffing bottles, growlers, and cans into a bag that may be designed to hold just cans. Not to mention durability of bags for doing such things...zipper durability, etc. I've overloaded my bruery bag to the point that the shoulder strap thingies broke off. I do still recommend that bag, but not if you plan to navigate through a metro area like NYC

Maybe this thread would get more responses if it was in a different forum?

Looking for a good cooler bag. Would be used when hitting up can releases or to bring some to BYOBs/parties. Any favorites?

People seem to swear by the Yeti coolers although the prices are pretry high. Amazon had them half off earlier this week but that may have expired.

I think there is an updated version. If I saw half off I would buy a second one in a blink of an eye

I almost pulled the trigger on a 30 for $175 instead of $350, but then it occurred to me that even that price is about 5 times what I am generally prepared to spend on a cooler. haha. I am cheap, what can I say.

I'd rather buy $150 in beer than a cooler to hold beer hehe.

I got some from Jack's that were four bucks or so. They're nothing fancy, but they zipper shut and they're little thicker than the ones I've seen from grocery stores. They also sell nicer ones for like twenty bucks too.

picked up a "coleman 30 can cooler with hard liner" in June, on sale, for $12.85. Normal price is ~$25. Can hold 20 16oz cans and 3 12oz cans, with a quart size ziplock of ice just fine.
