Carton Brewing (August 2017)

The Burial collab hit NYC distribution today. Just grabbed some at Bread & Honey. Was curious why it would hit Manhattan distribution and nothing at Carton for sale.

I picked up a sixtel of it 2 weeks ago.

that's the Boyle's one, and Boyle's is the first bar to kick a keg of boat so it's usually timed to the anniversary party there

 

Yeah, they're just asking for a "boycott" of their establishments. They're going about it all wrong.

 

Who do they think they're actually punishing? The breweries? Im sure some of the breweries that would be affected, especially the bigger local ones like Carton, would have a waiting list of bars and establishments that would love to be new accounts. If a couple places dont want to serve their beer all that means is a couple new places get some great new beers to serve, or existing accounts get more beer. They're doing nothing but taking away business from themselves. Stupid

What the State really needs to do is a comprehensive review of the ABC laws as a whole to bring them up to date. But their are too many special interests against that happening. So instead our legislature will shake down both sides for donations and probably do nothing.

 

I try to see both sides in all arguments but bars come across as whining here TBH. I go to breweries for different reasons than I go to bars.

 

Ellery's is the only one near me. They are basically across the street from Demented and I could have sworn they were pouring some Demented brews. Perhaps that changed.

In the end, this article just produced a list of bars I'll be sure to avoid, so that's helpful.

 

Now I know what bars to boycott

 

These few bar owners are really barking up the wrong tree. Did they care when wineries were able to do this for years? Maybe, I don't follow the wineries. But a brewery not having to give tours and offering some sort of small food will not take away from the business, IMO anyway.
