Went to the tour at the new place after MD day. Honestly there were very few people that attended. Most seemed to be from out of state, primarily your neck of the woods actually.

Got around to loading some pics, for anyone that hasn't seen anything elsewhere.

Clark has said a few times that King Sue will be packaged in 16oz cans, but he also said they weren't doing away with bombers. They will have 12oz and 16oz canning capabilities as well as 12oz and 22oz bottling. Not sure at this point what their plan is, but they are for sure doing 16oz cans of KS.

This is exactly what I was thinking as well. Makes sense that they would want to mark the occasion with a special bottle. I mean they still have SR listed on their website of beers they produce so it makes some us keep that glimmer of hope alive.

Except Clark is saying that release is this year and the brewery could very well not open until next year...I could see vanilla bean assassin being on site only for the open

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there will be another beer exactly like the last SR-71 since it was mostly the barrel aged solera project stuff that had been in barrels for 2-4 years.

Sure, there could be another SR-71, but it wouldn't be the same. And if it was the same blend, it would take another few years for that to be ready.

Huh, where did you hear that from?

A lot of people had been saying assassin barrels that didn't fit the profile, left to age for a little longer, possibly some vanilla beans thrown in

Oh, you know...the old "person who knows someone" or "person who knows things"...

Would make sense right? If the Solera Project hasn't been talked about in a few years. And no release was every stated to have contained the Solera Project beer. And SR-71 is a big secret...

16oz cans of King Sue gives me a funny feeling in my pants. :astonished:

Insert obligatory "not Florida" comment here. :sunglasses: :stuck_out_tongue:

But if its solera project don't they just save a little bit back every year to blend in? I don't think it would make up an entire beer

Solera Project + "leftover Assassin" = SR-71 maybe? So secretive. :-)

I think that feeling is called disappointment...if they're anything like Florida.

What is the likelihood that the issues with FL beers is not Florida Brew Hub, but scaling up?

If the latter, will the new brewery be a successful scale-up?

Not sure if Treehouse and Trillium's capacity will match TG's new facility but they seem to be doing just fine.

Sure. Many brewers have successfully scaled up and maintained the character and quality of their beers. TG has not demonstrated that capability (at least, going by the FL experience).

Would it be more accurate to say FL isn't "scaling up" as much as it is "outsourcing"?

My questions aren't with scaling up. Mike's worked with a number of brewers who brew on large systems, so I'm not concerned about that. What I'm cautious about are the brewing operations. Up to this point, Mike has played the largest part in TG's success IMO and a lot of that has to do with being involved in the entire brew process. With a larger system, it's inevitable that someone else will have to share those responsibilities at some point. Obviously, this can be good or bad. I've got faith in the process and am hoping for the best.

I don't know anything more than I read here about their process, but didn't Mike make (several?) trips to FL to try to get them dialed in? The general consensus on these forums is that he was not successful.

I'm hoping for the best, also. Don't take this as ragging on TG; more like a Minnesota attitude of always looking for the dark lining to the silver cloud... :sunglasses: (an attitude gained through years of experience with our sports teams!)
