With regard to CBS, I am wondering if they will do a KBS-like ticketed release at the source in Grand Rapids.

    I sure hope they do.

KBS was in such short supply in NEPA last year that I never got any. I actually think that Backwoods Bastard is very similar and actually goes down a little easier. Not better overall but just a bit less strong. Never have tried CBS but sounds like another great offering from my favorite brewery. Scored some Doom and DKML recently and both are real winners.

KBS and Backwoods are not even remotely close to the same beer. I enjoy them both, but saying they are similar is pretty egregious.

I had CBS in 2014, it was absolutely delicious. Tons of maple. I had it last November, not nearly as good. The maple does fade with time.

Same here, without a ticketed release you better be ready to sell your first born .

I agree 100%. I experienced the same as you. Completely disappointed when I had it again. Gotta drink it as fresh!

If you were at the brewery over Black Friday weekend, odds are pretty high that you had the new batch (or one of the new test batches), unless you were there Wednesday evening or maybe Friday afternoon. The last of the 2014 kegs still at the brewery were served very early in the weekend, and then it was on to 2017 barrels.

I live in NY so I don't get to Grand Rapids that often. I had it initially in Feb '15 at a local bar that was doing a tap takeover then again for KBS Week in March '15. Had it again at KBS Week in '16 and like I said before was really disappointed. They didn't offer any at KBS Week this past year. I was in the taproom from when they opened to around 10pm.

One of the big rumors I heard....not sure how true they are so take it with a grain of salt. Founders will do a CBS Week in December similar to what they do in March for KBS.

I'm sorry - I am sure I could dig this up. I was wondering if you could just briefly summarize what "KBS week" is like. Thought it might be easier to summarize than me digging through a bunch of inforamtion.

KBS week is something they do locally. Tje whole week the pre-ppurchases allotments can be picked up at the brewery. On Top of that there are local bars and restaurants that get debut kegs and the owners of Founders go to those establishments to do a short speech before tapping the just key. Those kegs typically start pouring and they don't stop pouring until empty, over the next 15 or so minutes. The week culminates with the KBS party at the brewery where it is available on draft all day

It's been a long time since I was in the Founders Tap Room and I'll be driving through later today. Do they offer flights or samples? There's some serious Class 3 heavy hitters on draft now and I'd love to try more than just one or two.

I bought an old bottle of Bolt Cutter at Ashley's Westland when they had the Founder's event. One of the reps told me Bolt Cutter was a one-off for their 15th anniversary. Guess I'll be able to get one or two more then.

DM chocolate mint hit downstate IL last week. I'd rather it be Backwoods...
