Its official, Apple Ale will be making a comeback in December. I frown at this as I wish they would brew Cranbic for that month.

    Must've all gone into Serendipity.

I welcome more Apple Ale, but I hope it is more like the 2009 (2010?) version and less like last years version.

Hoping that the win for Hometown Blonde at GABF keeps that one in the rotation going forward, by far my favorite "new" release this year (aside from Sour Ale).

    Cheers!

Totally agree with you Tony. I think Blonde is superb and I know Dan had said he was unsure of how well it was going to sell but I think it was in the same boat as Blacktop. Trying something a little different and it turns out to be another great beer.

Yokel and Edel-Pils were my favorites, but nobody else would buy enough to keep them in production. Dicks.

Last years Apple Ale was quite a bit different from previous ones, I hope they return to the earlier taste profile.

My girlfriend is going to be very happy! I think this may be the first beer run we make for HER!

interesting in that the apple crop was a major disappointment in WI this year.

Agreed, and there was a bountiful cranberry harvest (apparently). I'm with the OP, and wish they were doing Cranbic, definitely one of my favorites.

Damn! The one beer from NG that I make sure to NOT BUY every year. Apple Ale is OK, but certainly not worthy of being in the Unplugged rotation every single year, IMO. I can think of a dozen other current and past Unpluggeds that I'd much rather see released yearly.

I personally love Apple Ale and any other fruit beer from NG, stoked to see that it's back

Does anyone know what apples are used in it or the farm they're from? I mean the flavor comes out so damn pungent it tastes like jolly rancher, I never had an apple taste that sweet and I'm a hippy that shops primarily from farmers markets.

How does this stuff take to age? If i were to buy a pallet or two, would it still be good for a while?

I've had Apple Ale with a year on it and it was actually very similar to the way it tasted fresh.

Yeah, Serendipity is pretty bad ass. I got mostly apple in the nose and the flavor is a nice balance of the three fruits, with a crisp, clean tart finish. I dunno how they do it. And I think Apple Ale is a fine beer, just wish it didn't use up an Unplugged slot every year. Oh well, that's about the only complaint I have as far as NG is concerned.

I tried to help you with the Yokel, but I guess we were just two leaves in the wind.

Coffee Stout rotates every other year with Road Slush. It will be back for 2013.
