Just throw in my two cents on the great TV debate. Had a couple friends visiting from L.A. the past few days and they and myself were absolutely sick of almost every single place we went to in Chicago having TVs everywhere, and we were super happy with the two times we went to Forbidden Root and there being NO TVs at all. It was like yes, finally a place where people are actually looking at each other and talking to each other (or to their phones but whatever, lol).

I was pretty adament about not having TVs. The rest of the crew wanted at least 2. We settled on 2 but hidden and rarely on.

Personally, I'm like a bug to a bug light with a TV. I don't care what it is. Bright moving images and I'm distracted. I find myself side-eying fucking golf.

So, nothing big to add here..just some insight into the decision making process.

My wife is like this too--She recognizes it, and always offers me the seat facing the TV (especially if it's sports).

I think "2 but hidden and rarely on" is a perfectly good compromise; that way you have the option not to miss out on people coming to FR during "can't miss" periods (Chicago teams in the playoffs, World Cup, etc.).

Why have I never noticed TVs? Where are they located?

Behind the draft boards. They are on a rail with wheels. Beer Temple did the same thing at the new bar.

I do love the idea of hidden TVs.

I'm not advocating for TVs to be on at all times. Mainly just on Sunday's, or the 3 hours a local team is on.

I actively dislike useless crap like movies on mute or those stupid YouTube videos.

I remember you saying that, and being very disappointed.

    I'm glad hotter heads prevailed.

Just wanted to give a shoutout to the boyz at FR for always having a cider on draft. My wife has celiac and can't drink beer and is never disappointed when we get to FR because there's always an awesome cider. Please keep up the good work boyz!!

The single heroes are not any good. And there are not a lot of bars in this city with multiple 3 Floyds options. And again, I'll pass on 3 month old Half Acre cans.

Pretty sure I won't be supprised <sic>. I drink quite a lot of beer but when I'm watching a game, I'd prefer not to drink mediocre, shelf-turdy beer. Drinking anything at Forbidden Root would be more interesting than the same old retreads.

Your (sic) ordering the wrong thing. Get the Chicago Handshake and let that fuel you're (sic) ability to yell at an LED.

In all seriousness, I'm usually pretty happy when I can get a Bells seasonal and sit outside with friends. Solid, but not great, beers help my palate remember the range for better comparisons. It's like going to fancy restaurants. Do it enough, and you'll start to say "eh, the Michelin star last week was better, this was only ok" - when that "ok" option would have been amazing had you spaced them out more.

To each their own, but I'm glad FR doesn't overdo it with TVs. I don't like screens of any kind around when I'm talking with my friends.

Can we end this TV thing? It honestly wont ever happen except playoffs... again... diehard sports here but have zero want to have it on. i really wish this thread was more pumped to try Power Trip than talk about TVs....

I've only seen Mikerphone send kegs out to one bar in Chicago: O's Tap. If I'm not mistaken, I've seen FR on tap at a few Chicago bars. Corridor's NEIPAs have been on draft at The Green Lady. I've had one of the Van Hazen's there last month.
