SWTFYW Hints and Hauls!!!

With the new fantasy football season upon us, I was just checking on this box from last fantasy season Timmy. Of course if you were waiting to send a BCBS box in November, I'm good with continuing to wait.

 

Still quiet here. Sadly I'm not drinking as I have a marathon in 10 days. Gotta keep the temple clean.

Okay what did I sign up for? It has been a real motherf*cker of a summer, but is hard to complain with all that is going on in Texas/Louisiana and hurricanes and jebus what is happening in the US... Hope everyone is well and in good spirits...literally!

Old rivalries and all, but it appears that there's a massive overlap/shift from SWTFYW4L to L4L as the place to be.

I have shipped and interacted with many of those fine gents before, am am happy to pay my dues to join. Can someone confirm: SWTFYW is dead, long live SWTFYW?

Drying out now, no flooding for us personally. Some friends not so lucky. Lost power for a day, but that was the extent of it and our neighbor came over and hooked our fridge up to his generator.

The city (and country) came together very well to help out Houston and the surrounding areas. While I don't love TX, for the past 2 weeks I'm proud to say I live in Houston. Neighbors, Strangers, The Cajun Navy (it's a thing), and thousands of people have helped those who have been devastated.

All of the breweries in the area were giving free water away before, during and after the storm if you brought in a container. Most have already had full days or weeks where all money was donated to local charities. We have a big organized event with most breweries in the city to do the same thing all together and tap the good stuff with all money going to local charities.

Mattress Mack, the local furniture guy who has an empire here opened up both his large show rooms, provided food and water and let people come stay and sleep on all of his furniture, bring pets and was a shelter (compared to Joel Olsteen who didn't open until backlash and then asked for $50 donations to his church for the costs of opening his church as a shelter).

Parts of the city are still flooded and therefore traffic is a nightmare, but we're slowly returning to normal.

Glad to hear that you at least are safe and escaped damage.
Amazing how something like this can bring out the best in people. Also, somewhat sad that we often have to wait for a disaster for the best in people to come out.

Oh, dude, no worries. I rarely wait in lines for beer anymore... no way i'd wait or have anyone else wait on my behalf for a t-shirt. Sounds like they could make a killing with an online sale for these though.

I will be staying at the Hilton Americas - Houston for a conference with work in the beginning of October. Are there any good BBQ joints around there? I won't have a vehicle and will likely have to taxi around if it beyond walking distance.
