Agreed..saved a can of 3rd until May..and even then it still held up really well..but at 2-3 weeks it was as close to liquid nirvana as you can get..IMHO

Just cracked my last DDH Galaxy from 8/05 release. Looks like sewer water. Disgusting.

I don't know about everyone else but I had taster of this batch of DDH DMD in the taproom today and goddamn that beer is out of this world. No way in hell it's getting any better. The DDH ACE growler I brought home is tasting nice too. I love all the cool new beers OH puts out, but their arsenal of regulars still blows me away, even after four or five releases, these beers surprise me with so much incredible hop flavor and finely balanced sweetness and bitterness.

Yeah, Other Half has done a really good job of listening to feedback from fans and setting brew schedule accordingly. Seems like all of their most 'well-received' beers (DDH DMD, DDH ACE, DDH Mylar, Daydream) make it into the regular rotation, and they're generating new recipes based on fusions of those fan favorite recipes.

Here's to hoping it continues (DDH Green Power, anyone???)!

Is there any reason why they don't do limits beyond 1 case of each release per person? Are they worried they won't be able to sell everything if they implement smaller limits? Are they worried people will just bring more mules and make the space even more hectic? Is it possible that limits will just drive up the selling market price, thus making everything worse?

I'm sure there's no comparison in terms of weekly volume, but I was at Tilted Barn this weekend and they had a 3 four-pack limit per person. Seems like a good idea to ensure that everyone who makes the trek can get what they want, while also severely limiting the damage a reseller can do. I'm just unsure what sort of disadvantages would arise for the brewery if they implemented something. Seems like a win-win.

That's how I felt. I didn't wait in line for cans, but chose to swing by later for a pour. I still felt it was a little green. Not gonna lie, wish I had some cans though cuz I'm sure they'll be awesome in a week or 2.

Point well made. This topic has been heavily debated heavily in previous months, I'd check out August and July to find more clarity around your questions.

As someone who didn't buy any beer at OH this weekend, specifically because I knew the 2 varieties I wanted to get would be gone by the time I got there (note: wasnt going to wait in line before opening) I can say PLEASE make the limits 3 4pks per person for the stuff that everyone knows will sellout first. Like I get it, they want to get rid of beer fast as possible they're a business etc, but from a business perspective they're also losing business from people like myself staying home all together.

Or maybe I'm the only one that feels that way? Like - had there been double mosaic left at 1, I would have made the trip, and then actually buy Nelson or whatever and get a draft pour because why not, just wasn't making the trip ONLY for that.

TLDR - they sell all the beer either way regardless of whether I go or not, but they could sell more.

I think the initial post each month should include a summary of the common responses to both sides of this debate.

I think it's probably a case of "if it ain't broke...." for them.

When it gets to the point that they're measurably losing business and/or throwing away palates (sic) of old beer, then maybe they'll revisit.

Don't get me wrong I'd love lower limits, personally speaking.

While I don't disagree with your sentiment at all, I'd point out that they would lose money in CC processing charges as well as man-hours working the POS system for twice as many folks.

More customers are always better than less customers. They would make up those costs in spades with more people going to OH more often and hitting the tap room too.

Aside from that, with double batches I think they have met the needs of almost all of their customers, being able to roll in and get great beer with no line is perfect. The "hyped", smaller case count is not getting in the hands of enough people. There is certainly a large segment of people out there who are not frequenting Other Half as much as they would if they knew they could get beer a bit more easily.

I agree you're correct, it would cost them slightly more in CC fees as well as paying people to work the release an extra several hours. HOWEVER, is that really a reasonable reason to run a business that can't meet demand and serves a niche group of people only? I hate comparing to Treehouse et. al but most other breweries are trying to get their beer in more people's hands from the point of transaction. Yes I know, OH probably benefits from the free marketing of people shipping beer across the country but that would still happen with 3 4pk limits per beer.

Exactly. While most agree they would like limits cut, it reaches a point where it is splitting hairs. And I guess they are not putting in the analysis many of us put in on in this thread on limits, etc.

Very true point about the CC fees and man-power. I can't blame them there.

But I also definitely agree with thedon10's logic. If I could roll in at a reasonable time, I would buy the cans I want and also probably hang out in the taproom and try a bunch of stuff. So in addition to selling all the cans they have (like the always do), they'd get additional business from me in the taproom. The alternative is to allow people from lord knows where to drive in, pick up 8 cases and bounce immediately, and not see people like me at all.
