    Thank you CanConPhilly for this
16 oz can, dated 8/17/17, poured into a teku

A- A hazy golden copper with two finger white head.

S- Blood oranges, tropical, some pineapple, citrus, some wet grass at times

T- Pineapple is more noticeable than the blood oranges, both are pretty easy to pick out, the base has some more tropical and citrus notes with a piney finish, not getting the wet grass I noticed in the nose.

    M- Smooth, medium body.

O- A fun take on an IPA with fruit added, slight fruits juice quality. Worth picking up.

Hello all! I'm having a garage-cleaning weekend, but have enough time to take a small well deserved break. My beer this afternoon comes by way of the incredible and generous @Premo88 -

    Jester King Atrial Rubicite

This is a raspberry sour of some renown, and it sure as hell is well-deserved. Right off the bat the nose is jammy, jammy, jammy with raspberries, alongside an underlying earthiness. The palate is rich and creamy, full flavored, woody, vinous, bracingly tart and dry, with just enough complexity from the barnyard hay to let you know that you're not drinking any kid stuff here. Absolutely stunning, nearly as good as can be expected (I'd like a bit more funk and wood myself, but wouldn't sacrifice much of this ripe fruitiness to get it). A+ (4.8)

A million thanks again, Robert! This is really special!

NBS #2. Blue Mountain brewery Hop Tub.

This one comes with a little story about customer service. Hop Tub is their fresh hops brew, it's made with hops grown on site (and at some select local growers). In August they hold a community harvest where locals are invited to come out and pick out the hops from the vines. In return for 2 hours of work and chance to learn about the hops, they will pick up the tab for lunch. It's a fun time, family friendly, and we got to learn about how they grow and how to choose the right hops off the vine. Lunch was pretty tasty too.

Anyways...they advertised the release of Hop Tub on Facebook with prices for pints and growlers. Showed up to get a growler fill and found out that they weren't filling growlers due to a small supply this year (this year they got like 3 kegs worth) and in surprise I mentioned the FB post. The bartender asked to see the post so I showed him it on my phone, he then took the post to the manager on duty. They decided to fill the growler, despite my offering to not worry about it since there was so little. As they put it, it was offered online and they were going to stand by their post. Nice to see a place stand by what they say.

    So, on to the review.

Appearance: A hazy orange color with about a finger of white head that faded into some nice lacing.

Smell: Strong citrus, notes of grapefruit and orange.

Taste: Primarily grapefruit, nice malt backbone, mild bitterness.

Feel: Creamy, medium body beer with moderate carbonation.

Overall: It's a solid IPA, easily drinkable, pleasant feel and a nice grapefruit flavor. Made all the better to know we helped with picking the hops for this one.

Nice to hear about the growler. This is one of my top beer destinations when visiting that area of VA.

They are one of my favorite breweries, and my non-beer drinking wife loves the restaurant so we're there fairly often. Good place.

First post to this recurring thread in awhile. Watching the Jags do surprisingly well, despite some missteps. Been riding out Irma mostly with home-brew, but time for a commercial beer. So far no lost power, but prepared for whatever comes over the next couple of days, including beer!

    Maredsous Blonde.

Aroma - Lots of stone fruit esters and honey sweetness. A bit of floral alcohol. A light stale note.

Appearance - Deep gold with a light haze. Solid dense white head with decent retention. Not the prettiest blonde I've seen!

Taste - Bready malt, stone fruit esters, and spicy alcohol. Light honey sweetness. Notable stale notes. Just noticed a "best by" date of 3/17. Wish I'd looked before buying. Nice bitterness to balance the malt.

Mouthfeel - medium body, fairly high carbonation. Dry finish with a hint of warmth.

Overall - OK, but probably much better when fresh.

    Cheers, all!

Back for another as I watched the conclusion of the Bears-Falcons down in the cave. It's going to be another frustrating season along the lake as the defense looks decent enough to keep them in most games, but is still susceptible to giving up the big play in the secondary. The offense had its chances late, but as usual let it get away. Damn you Jordan Howard for taking your eye off the ball! Enough bitching, let's try another new beer.

I stopped at Binny's in Lincoln Park yesterday after running a 5k in Chicago and tried my best to control my purchases.:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: This however was one that I added to my respectable haul. A 750ml from Mikerphone Brewing labeled Mikerphone Check 1,2. It's a double dry hopped DIPA with Citra hops. There's no visible date on the bottle and the abv. is 8.0%. Let's 'check' it out!

Pours a hazy pale yellow producing a small finger of creamy white foam that quickly settled leaving a little lacing in it's wake. The smell is passionfruit, mango, pineapple and orange zest. A touch of malt appears in the back. Taste is grapefruit, passionfruit, orange zest, pineapple, floral notes and a little peppery spice in the finish. The feel is slick and pillowy up front yielding to a slightly acidic and dry finish.

While my cart at Binny's was pretty full, I'm glad I decided to add this one. What's another $13 dollars in the grand scheme of things?:stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: This was a very enjoyable NE DIPA that wasn't an overt 'juice' bomb, but rather a palate pleasing mix of citrus and floral notes. I can't wait to try the other Mikerphone beer I put in my cart first. My score on this is 4.31 / rDev-2.9%.

I'm tagging out for awhile. Enjoy your day! Here's the skinny.....

Huge thanks to @smanson56 for this one. Long time want, and my first ever HF. Great beer to accompany the first football Sunday of the year.

    look: 4.5 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.5 | overall: 4.5

    Bottled 2/16/17

Pours a mildly cloudy straw yellow, with a thick 2 finger white head that dissolves fast but leaves heavy lacing.

Aromas of white grape juice, lemon zest, musty

Taste white wine, lemon and lime zest, musty tart finish with a slight earthiness

Feel is light and crisp with a a strong tartness

Overall a world class exmple of a funky famhouse. Clear and crisp defined simple flavor profile with a complimenting musty tartness.
