Yeah yeah tell us more about power trip! Same hop profile as Snoochies? When are you gonna put it on draft? I recommend Noon, so I can have a "working lunch."

Also, I hypothetically sent a can each of atomic, radio, and Snoochie to PA. I'm excited to expand FR's reputation, so people know what we're bragging about.... and to try some Tired Hands side-by-side.

Any hints on what the next berliners are going to be?

 

I'm pretty sure there was a Mojito one in a tank somewhere and maybe a Bellini? Or maybe that one was still in planning stages? They rattled off quite a few ideas and all of them seemed like they would be solid options.

With the way these have all been served up (including Industry Night, though not a berliner), I'm almost as curious to see how they serve these as much as how the actual beer turns out.

How much were the Atomic Child 4-packs at the FR can release?

I wasn't able to make the release so I've been waiting for The Open Bottle to get their allotment. Well they put it on the shelves today for $5.99 per can (limit 2 cans per person). That comes to $23.99 + tax for the equivalent price of a 4-pack. I couldn't bring myself to pay that much. Are they over charging for it?

 

Yes. On the shelf at LP binny's and Beer Temple today for ~$16. Also had it at Garfields.

That said, beer temple was breaking up 4 packs of 18th street IPAs and selling two different bottles for $7, to increase personal consumption and decrease hoarding and I liked that.

Definitely glad they broke down those 18th street beers. I bought one and drank both last night. Both beers were huge letdowns, and I would be disappointed if I had 3 more of either.

 

Atomic child feedback:
1) focus more on the hops. The grape juice doesn't replace hoppiness. Feels like you dialed back the hops for the grape juice.
2) if you're going to add grape juice, add more. It's too subtle to add to the beer. It just makes it taste "different"
3) it needs carbed more. The profile doesn't lend itself to the low level of carbing here
4) this beer is delicious. I bought 2 4-packs at the release and another at the beer temple. While I'm straight up with my critique I still think you're killing it. But I know you're constantly trying to make improvements, so I thought I'd add my 2 cents

 

Stopped by Forbidden Root for the first time yesterday; I was in the area & popped in for a howler to go.

Maybe the most aesthetically pleasing bar in Chicago; I love the layout!! Pretty perfect for summer with the open windows creating an "al fresco" vibe up front.

Cool that the to-go section is seperate also.

I felt about 70% more classy than usual in there.

Can't wait to try Toro tonight!

My girlfriend and I stopped by FR for lunch on our way home today. TORO! was incredible, and dangerous - super crushable at 10%. The Ghost Tropic that's in tap right now is unreal. It's very juicy, with a nice hop bite.

We always love stopping by, the experience is always top notch!

 

To me, Toro had a tangy pineapple vibe with some cream & some dry grass; perhaps a bit sweet but it was balanced enough to be enjoyable. A nice offering.

I completely agree that the ABV was extremely well hidden; dangerously drinkable!!

 

I'm also planning to swing through on Friday for Power Trip and whatever else. The wife has friends coming in for Riot Fest, so I plan to make the Chicago brewery/bar rounds as an alternative. Maybe I'll run into a few of you.

If the latest Snoochie release is any indication, I'll be leaving work just a few minutes early to get there ASAP tomorrow. I was a huge fan of the last batch of Radio Swan, so I'll definitely be in the hunt for this one.

Power Trip is draft only for Friday, correct? Or did I misread the earlier posts?

 

How much bigger is this batch of Radio Swan than the last and how much of that increased production will be available tomorrow at FR versus going out to distro? TIA.
