DC/MD/NoVA Beer Updates (2017)

Fwiw, I was kinda underwhelmed with this one.

 

I picked up one can at Laurel TW:

 

going to be in Baltimore next weekend for a wedding reception so not really a beer centric trip by any means

staying just a bit north of Fells point...close to Patterson park

What are the odds Max's Taphouse would have the Canelo vs GGG fight on?

anywhere close to where i'll be staying anyone can recommend

I would like to hit up The Wine Source in Hampden or Union Craft if I have the opportunity but i'll be w/ my wife and two children w/ limited spare time...looks like they're both close to the botanical garden though and I wanted to stop there on my way out Sunday

 

This isn't really beer-related and certainly isn't the DMV...

You shouldn't be too far from Of Love and Regret, you can bring the kids there unless it's late night. Max's will be 21+ only.

Hope all is well! Just a quick question. Do you guys know when Oskar Blues BA TEN FIDY gets released again to DC? I thought I heard it was released a few weeks ago - must have missed it.

 

Meridian Pint had the 2016 vintage on tap about a week ago, but I don't think we've seen cans since November/December. No clue if they're coming back any time soon.

 

It was released the first week of November last year.

 

Does anyone know of another place besides Dominion that sells crowlers?

 

Department of Beer and Wine in Alexandria has crowlers.

Me again - does anyone know if Avery Rumpkin is to be released in this area?

 

Maryland already has it, I'd be surprised if Virginia didn't have it too.

 

The beer finder on the Avery site is only showing it in MD, I'm guessing it will be in VA and/or DC this week. You might have better luck calling a reputable bottle shop in your area and asking.

How often does DC get Cantillion and what are the best stores to find it?

 

used to be almost never until about a year ago, so not sure how frequently it will hit bottle shops. Maybe once or twice a year some pops up at all the shops Pekko does distro for. The sovereign always has some available on their bottle list though. CBC had some along with 4 or 5 other shops on the last drop.

You might on a rare instance find one on a bottle list, but will pay a good amount for it because of that.

 

Only store I know of that's gotten Cantillon with any regularity over the last year or so is Craft Beer Cellar, and even there it's been maybe 3 drops since they opened last summer. I've gotten bottles of the Gueuze, Kriek and Bruocsella there. I believe they've announced it on Twitter every time they've gotten anything and they've sold out within an hour every time -- I just happen to work right nearby!

 

Don't know how far you are willing to travel outside the city, but the guy at Dominion in NoVa said they will be getting draft Cantillon in the near future
