    I've had 4 so far : Weihenstephaner,Genesee,Two Roads, & Hacker-Pschorr.
The original (of course!), H-P, by a head, over Two Roads. : )

My favorite this year is from the Brew Kettle.

Also like Penn and Great Lakes.

If not there, check out Frankford Hall in Fishtown if you haven't yet. I love that place. Their annual Oktoberfest celebration is this weekend, actually. I might go.

But isn't it pretty safe to say that most current style guidelines were written to describe those beers? If those beers "nail the characteristics" of the guidelines, it's not really a reason to give the beers any credit (but rather, the guideline writers instead). I say this as a fan of drinking those beers.

How about credit for establishing the style characteristics to begin with? Would you take credit away from Fuller's for setting the bar for ESB? Or SN for the benchmark it set for APA?

Yeah, it could be a chicken or the egg sort of argument, but I can't take credit away from those who originated the style in the first place.

I was just reading the beer list for Oktoberfest Cincinnati (sorry, Zinzinnati) and noticed this:

NEWLY ANNOUNCED: Goose Island/Spaten Collaboration: Keller Märzen
Goose Island Beer Co. traveled overseas to brew a limited release beer, Keller Märzen, with Spaten. The result is a smooth, malty and unfiltered amber lager with light, bready sweetness and a delicate German hop character. The beer was brewed in March, just as all German Märzen beers have been for centuries.

Aside from perpetuating the false history of Märzenbier, I'll say it...
