Hi, out of towner chiming in.
I will be in the city for work in a couple of weeks, but will spend the weekend with the wife. I'd love to go and try some OH beers, but if possible I'd like to avoid a line or a super crowded taproom. Since I've never had anything from them, I guess the more regular beers would satisfy me plenty, I don't need cans or anything like that. Is there a recommended time to go on a Saturday or Sunday, or would the taproom be full regardless?

Opening time on Sunday is a pretty safe bet if you want chill vibes. And they will have a ton of awesome stuff (including most recent releases) on tap to drink

Saturday afternoon to night is chill most times although last week it was pretty crowded. Sunday is also a pretty safe bet. Just avoid Saturday 10am-4pm

Here now, plenty of both cans available. Loving the Triple Cream.

Just going to beat a dead horse and say again that these midweek releases are the tits. Nothing like strolling in and grabbing a couple 4 packs in under 5 minutes

The Japanese can market gets so much more. It's kind of insane. I've seen $70+ per can!

I've been away for every mid week release besides Centennial so I'm just a little salty. Hope they drop at least one more the next couple weeks.

There are quite a few bars/restaurants around town with OH on tap. I was probably at 4 or 5 just this weekend.

Anyone who was there last night know if there's still a decent amount of cans left? May swing by today

That imperial lager is really good, tastes a lot like an Other Half IPA. Without a doubt its best of imperial lager I've tried - worth picking up a 4pk or 2

So seems it's one of those lagers that's interchangeable with an IPA? If so I'll pass. This trend is something I have never understood.

To all the IPL / hoppy lager fans - what's the attraction? What do you get that you don't get from an IPA? Is it just to be able to tick the lager box?

I remember that period where Jacks Abby was super hawt. Really pissed me off seeing the same posts again and again and again in the main forum - "I've never really liked lagers but just tried Jacks Abby and finally I see the attraction. Best lager I've ever had. So good that we're brewing world class lagers in the US now".

Don't get me wrong. They taste great. But not like a lager. And not better than an IPA.

My impression while drinking was that OH's hoppy lager tastes the way IPA used to taste, clean and hoppy without being a full fledged assault of hops the way things seem

Arent IPLs just IPAs with a different yeast and lagered?

I agree with the whole "hoppy lager isn't really a lager" argument. It is a slippery argument to make though- many beer drinkers scoff at the extent to which American craft brewers have stretched the boundaries of every style they've taken up. It seems like something we all benefit from in some way or another, unless you ONLY drink imported beers brewed in the traditional style.

I don’t really mind pushing the boundaries I just find it a bit lazy that we add “hoppy” or “IPA” to everything. Why not own these beers and come up with a unique name? The New England IPA is a unique American invention but is it really an IPA?
