New to Ohio (2017)

As far as I've ever noticed Wulver is basically "year-round" because of how much they make and the price. You can usually find it on at least a few shelves whenever you want it and I've always been able to order it from the distributor any time of the year.

 

Thanks a lot. When I was in Columbus, after having tried it, I scoured the place and could only find 1 store (a Giant Eagle) that happened to have any. Granted, I called and did not visit every store, but still.

That's great to know. That makes me happy. Here in southern Indiana (and, I guess in a large way, also in Indy), the only "Year Round" BA stout is Uncle Jacob's. (Some of the CW stuff would be a second, but they really aren't my jam.) UJ is expensive. I understand this is not a stout, but I love the stuff, and it's the big barrel presence that makes it for me. So, being able to get this consistently when I visit family would be amazing. I'll have to hunt it down. It will tide me over between BA stouts .

 

Oh I totally get it man. Not enough BA Scotch Ales out there and this is one of my favorites. Even though you're not in the area, when you know you're coming back you could always call a store before you're back and have them order it for you too. We order stuff for people coming in from out of town all the time.

 

As already mentioned, Jungle Jims will certainly have it. If not, just call some of the better shops around. Someone will have some for sure. It may be a previous batch, but they hold up just fine.

I guess its now 'Old" to Ohio, but Portside in Cleveland has closed its doors.

No doubt that this will occur more and more with all the new (lackluster, low quality) breweries opening up in Cleveland.

 

Anyone know when Founders Breakfast Stout gets released around Ohio?

A few years ago I had like a 2 day old bottle on September 3rd.

 

Usually by the first of Oct. give or take

 

Giant Eagle (and others) still have cases of last year's release sitting.

 

Yeah, I saw some from 2016 at Savor Growl and passed. Not a big fan of old FBS.

 

Should be soon. Then I believe beginning of next year it's becoming a year round beer.

 

If it becomes a year-round (not that i am saying it shouldn't), I will be interested in seeing how old some bottles get. They will reduce shipments in the "non stout season" months. Still, given the above comment, still curious.

 

I was certainly shocked when I heard it from my rep. I had the same thoughts.

 

Pretty significant price drop to $9.99/4-pack this year too.

 

Cappy's in Loveland had a MOUNTAIN of it, but I'm not sure which release it was.

 

Just keep the current setup. It's ALREADY a year round beer from sitting so long lol
