    First of all, I'm local so I understand if you think i am hyping it up. Personally I think the base is really good and there is great coco present. It drinks smooth and personally I want to keep as much possible and only trade 1 or 2. I'm very curious what out of towners think of this.

    All gone.
    It is some really good stuff tho my favorite of the recent BA stuff..
    Didn't get a ton of coconut in the taste but the nose was awesome.

    So I just came home from a local beer store that had some Mexican Cake on the shelves. I was a little suspicious of why this beer is on a shelf in NJ a few months after I couldn't find it in SC. So I didn't get it. Feel like maybe I should go back and get some.

    Exactly this. It's still a very good stout. But there was almost no heat to it this year. It's a sad representation of what it has been in previous years.

    If you got the May bottles, then those were disappointing. They made another batch for the coffee Cakes (so much better!) in June and ended up bottling the leftovers, from what I heard. I think those June bottles were only sold out of the taproom. I would have bought more, but already had a crap-ton of the May bottles. The heat was much better, but still not up to the '15 Cakes (which are still really spicy).

    Random question, I have my notifications set to email me when a new response comes up, but I never get an email. Are you guys getting every response through email. *back story, last year I missed the BA cakes by 20 mins because I didn't get an email notification when someone replied in the 16 thread that they dropped on BPT.com* is there something I'm missing?

    This is pretty random, but I happen to have a bottle of the Maple bourbon Mini Growler. When it first came out, I had several people indicate they thought it needed to age a little. I was just curious if anyone had one recently and would mind commenting comparatively.

    Ha! You probably have the bottle I sent you. To answer your question, it is definitely drinking better now than when it first came out in late May. I popped open a second bottle just 3 weeks ago and some of the maple 'in your face' sweetness has faded and it tastes a lot more balanced now. Could it get even better with more aging? I would think so since it's only been in the bottle for 3 months.
