Threw back a couple gems in Ballard this past week between Reuben's Festbier and Pilsner, and Lucky Envelope's Helles Lager. All three were crisp, well-balanced, and refreshing. Another way of putting it? All of these beers were easy-to-drink, clean, and crisp lagers (brewed generally to style).

I know Stoup also has a nice pilsner, and I'll always drink pFriem, Buoy, and of course, Heater Allen, when I see it. What's everyone else drinking to offset the fresh-hop madness?

Pretty much the same as you (outside of the Reuben's stuff, which I haven't seen down here yet), though I also think Upright's pilsner is very good as well. I also never get tired of BA stouts (in small amounts), and had a lovely glass of Prairie Paradise with my pasta over at Lardo/Grassa last night. Started the evening with a pretty mediocre glass of Fathead's Shooting Blancs pilsner (at least it's aptly named), but otherwise, no complaints about the local alternatives to FH madness.

With Oktoberfest starting in full swing, same. I'm always a huge fan of bavarian hefs done well (Seapine, Occidental), marzens, and kolsch. Chuckanut's always pouring something locally for me to enjoy.

Has anyone been to Obec yet? Just opened near Stoup, and apparently specializing in czech style ales; I'm particularly interested in their pils.

While not crisp, clean, wholesome fun, a dip of highs under 70 means I break out the stouts and porters.

Was there last night. I'll give them some more time to dial in their brewing process, but the Czech pils I had from them last night wasn't good. Beautiful space tho.

I was very impressed with the Reuben Pilsner. I'm not usually a pils/lager guy, but I really liked it. Unfortunately, it seems to make only spotty appearances at my Vashon store.

I'm having a schooner of Obec's Pils right now. Very bready, but not crisp or clean. Always room for improvement.

My favorites are the pilsners from Heater Allen, pFriem, Buoy, and Upright.

The Commons has also made some lovely pilsners.

Occidental makes a gorgeous Helles. Block 15's Gloria is tasty.

Breakside's Pilsner is good, but I keep wishing it were a little better.

GG currently has both the upright and pfriem on tap. Those are my two favorite Oregon pils; I can never make up my mind which I prefer. Today I went with the pfriem. So good, and so easy drinking.

Spent the last few months drinking mostly lagers. pFriem's Pils was my favorite, still looking forward to trying Upright and Buoy.

I'm taking some bottles of the pFriem Pilsner to my Dad when the wife and I head for the Balloon Fiesta next month. Such a beautiful beer.

I understand what each of these words mean individually. But when they are formed into a sentence, I have no idea what this means.

I'm a big fan of Hale's Bill'sner Pilsner and Cloudburst Happy Little Clouds Pilsner.

I checked it out last night while in the area for Oktoberfest, and have to agree. I'll give them another shot down the line to see how things have changed.

Speaking of, during Oktoberfest I had a pour of Lucky Envelope's Helles Lager, and it was delicious.

Any pFreim Lager is top notch. Chukanut too.

And is me, or has Heater Allen fallen off a bit? The last few bottles of Pils I've had have been good but not what I remember.
