Winding up the weekend with White Hag's Bran and Sceolan - a juicy Irish IPA. Tasty....

Is it me or has St Austell's Proper job improved since they've slapped on that Cornish IPA slogan? A lot more crisp and less bready.

I had a bottle of Big Job the other month. Whilst it was okay the clean industrialised feel wasn't to my present tastes of hazy juicy bangers.

I've never been a fan but I swear it's improved in the last couple of weeks. Everyone go out and try one, just to prove my palate hasn't degraded!

Last night was a couple of Valhalla IPAs from Yorkshire Heart, a Wolf Rock red IPA which wasn't as nice, and finished off with a Yorkshire Blackout (better on tap than in bottle). For the rest of the weekend, there's a Boundary Filthy Animal, two Northern Monk Patrons Project (5.03 & 7.03), and an Evil Twin Even More Jesus, which is scaring me a little

I was in London at the weekend for the beavertown extravaganza event. I really enjoyed it and had about 15 100ml pours of mostly top quality and strong beer. There were some complaints I saw on social media about the Friday about stuff selling out quickly and long lines but the big lines were as you'd expect - cloudwater, omnipollo, trillium and other half. Most other breweries had small queues and that included other top quality like Mikkeller, alesmith, Buxton, de Mullen etc and even breweries I'd not heard of still had good beers. The only beer I did not like was a Brett pilsner from Arizona wilderness which was a flavour profile combination that should be avoided.

I think with Beavertown you have to expect the queues too. They always sell out of tickets and they're one of the most popular/fashionable craft breweries in London. I know people who don't even like beer that much who go to Beavertown events just because they see it as a nice boozy day out.

Tonight I'm drinking Brett the hitman tart by marble. Brett tastes much more favourable in this beer.

Great Friday night @ Bristol Craft Beer Festival :

Firestone Walker Luponic Distortion, Easy Jack
    Verdant Even Sharks Need Water
    The Kernel Damson Sour
    Lindheim Coolship Plum
    Mikkeller SpontanTripleBlueberry
    Siren Turkish
    Lervig Hazy Days, Tasty Juice
Beerbliotek Not Guilty The OJ IPA, No Style without Substance

Wiper and True/Stillwater Malted Milk Stout
    Tempest Marmalade on Rye
    Burning Sky/3 Floyds Burial Vault
    North Brewing Full Fathom 5

Only touched the surface but still recovering :sunglasses:. Really well put together event, only gripe the Beer Merchants bottle shop bizarrely had to close @ 8pm due to some issue (felt sorry for them) but still snaffled bottles of Lervig 3 Bean Stout, Black Acid and Omnipollo Sellasie for the cellar.

Nice Zwanze Day @ Moor, Bristol yesterday :

Cantillon Fou Foune, Rose de Gambrinus, Nath, Gueuze and Zwanze .

Had a fair few bottles on offer, Gueuze, Rose de Gambrinus , Iris and Kriek.

Also put on a barrel of De Struisse XXXX 2016.

Zwanze beer this year was a restrained subtle tea based lambic. Personally I liked the apricot fused Fou Foune and raspberry Rose de Gambrinus but all were top notch.

Sounds like an awesome experience - Cantillon beers are always great. I tried Fou Foune a few years ago during a trip to Brussels and I still think it's one of the most amazing beers I've ever sampled....

I had a great time at Zwanze at the Kernel in London, but just FF, RdG, and the Zwanze beer on tap. No bottles. I would have loved to try Nath. There were 4 Kernel beers and a few more guest beers as well.

I was at zwanze day in Manchester at beer merchants. Had fou foune and mamouche on tap in addition to the classic and zwanze and a couple from boon and tilquin. Apparently there were a few bottles but wasn't really looking. Reports are some of them are up for trade already.
