I'm quite intrigued by the custom bottle carrier and have a couple questions:

    What's it made of?
Will my name be engraved on it?
Does it only fit these bottles or will I be able to use it for other bottles?
Can I drink from the carrier?
    Is it weather proof?
    How sturdy is it?
    Will my friends be jealous?
    How much does it weigh?

Any deets would be greatly appreciated.

$105 with taxes and fees. Makes me wonder if WW had some infection issues and had to dump some barrels. Despite (I think?) making more than last year, they said something about low yields and high costs.

Maybe these custom carriers are extra custom?

Don't toss speculation about infection around. Those rumours kill breweries reps.

BAMA didn't seem hurt Weldwerks much. I had at least 1 infected bottle too.

But you are right of course, probably shouldn't speculate. Just made me curious when they said they had low yields.

Even though I like their stuff (a whole lot), WW tends to get a free pass from our community because we desperately want the hype train to travel through the mountains. For years it jumped straight from Chicago to SD, SF, or PDX.

Based on the reaction on social media, we definitely aren't getting a free pass on this one :astonished:.

We understand that this release in particular may be priced beyond the budget of many of our customers. But we price all of our beers based on the cost of production, and these beers were very expensive to produce. Between the cost of the wort (30+ Plato OG, boiled for 8-12 hours per batch), the cost of the barrels, the time spent in barrels (14-17 months), and the lower yields from extended barrel aging, this one was the most costly beer we have produced yet. And that's just for the base beer without adjuncts. For Medianoche Reserve, there are more than $5 of adjuncts alone in every single bottle (check the current prices for Madagascar vanilla beans to see why).

We decided that instead of producing Medianoche to fit a specific price point, we would produce the beer the way we wanted, including extended aging in barrels and using absurdly expensive, yet incredibly high quality adjuncts, and then price it accordingly. We could have dialed back the adjuncts and cut 7 months off the barrel aging process to make the beer more affordable but that would have yielded a completely different beer, and in our opinion, a beer that would not have lived up to its potential.

So we completely understand that many people will decide to skip this release if they don't feel it's worth the cost or if they just don't have the money to spend, especially with all the other events happening GABF week. But the wonderful thing about the Colorado beer scene is that there are hundreds of other amazing beers available, all at a range of prices to fit anyone's budget. We're pretty spoiled here .

    Asking the real questions here.

As Neal pointed out, vanilla beans are INSANELY expensive right now. I don't feel as bad now, now that they explained the reasons why. That kind of communication is nice to see. I may end up biting the bullet and getting an allotment anyway. IF they don't sell out in 2 seconds.

It's not just us Colorado folk but American beer geeks in general who have created such an exorbitantly priced market for craft beer. The fact that Cantillon and Drie Fonteinen sell their barrel aged beers locally for €6 while breweries in America are able to sell their barrel aged beer for $30 -$40 is all based on the locals themselves. We have the nerds, geeks, tickers, truckchasers, neckbeards, and hypebeasts to thank for these ridiculous prices. Now if you'll excuse me I have to hold my nose (literally) while I drive to Greeley.

If anyone doesn't want their allotment of WW Medianoche I would be happy to take it off your hands. Hoping that I can snag my own on Sunday, but I always leave Greeley with a suitcase full of crowlers and would love to pack bottles and crowlers for once.

Yep, and if you guys have any money, cars, or beachside villas that you don't want either, I can take those off your hands too.

Oh for fucks sake, if you guys would put this much effort into a second job as y'all put into crying about this you could afford to buy these beers.

Lmao @SFACRKnight nailed it. Everybody wants to ball on a budget these days, and I get that, but the high end beer world ain't for the faint of heart or wallet. Prioritize your purchases and vote with your dollar, it's that simple.

My initial thought was that Lugene was beer that didn't need a barrel but your endorsement has my intrigued. Still chocolate milk?

Whiskey and chocolate milk. That's it though. Was super impressed.

Worth the 800 or so calories right before bed.
