Drinking a rue right now, cherries taste a little more forward than before but otherwise still solid in my opinion. All my bottles are dated 3-3-17, have 6 left kept in a legit cellar at 62 degrees. Sucks that some bottles have turned.

According to the website it is.

Go to the three floyds website. Click menu and then click beers to go. Shows you everything current with limits and pricing.

I don't think so. At least, nothing official yet. I believe their stance is more that the flavor change is an 'evolution' of the beer, and not a true 'infection'. To that point, it's not like the bottle gushes when you open it...it's just a different tasting beer now.

I can't name one FFF beer that had cherries that improved with age and I've have a bunch....

On this note, has anyone had the Bruery version and noticed a difference with age? I'd be curious. I know their will be natural differences because they are being brewed separately, but surely the "change" should be proportional all else equal (i.e. if there's no infection).

Disclaimer: I have no horse in this race. I don't have a bottle, and have never had it. I'm just interested in the facts, and I feel like there are logical deductions here.

I have not, but wanted to add, I've never had an infected beer by FFF, but I've had at least a half dozen infected bottles by the Bruery--all different beers--and I've had far fewer beers by the Bruery than I have by FFF.

Probability theory and law of large numbers tend to suggest it will happen at some point (though). (Sounds like I am being an ass - I'm not. Just stating its' unreasonable to think it couldn't happen. Not that you're saying that.)

FFF has had infected beers before so it's not out of the realm of possibilities....that being said, 2 out of the 3 I'm aware of were Bruery collabs at FFF....and when they've had them, they've been exemplary in making up for the issue.

God dammit. I just cracked #1 or 4 Rue. Knew something was wrong with the smell. Took my first sip and pure sour cherries. Awful. My buddy got the same thing. Undrinkable. Drain pour. Need to contact FFF for refund. This beer was absolutely amazing on draft. Delicious.

Pure cherries, or actual sour beer?

Did you experience metallic notes, or off-flavors? Was it something odd resembling cherries, but not the true flavor of cherries?

No metallic. Just pure sour cherries is what we got. As I say that, this tastes nothing like what I had on draft. I got mostly sweet vanilla on draft with little cherry.

Just to be clear, from the people complaining about bad RDF, did you buy these bottles directly from FFF this calendar year? Just want to make sure people aren't complaining about the known infected RDF stuff from 2014....

When I had it fresh, same--as in not much cherry at all. Was like a well-made BA stout. It's funny that I actually had a minor complaint about this beer, and noted that many of FFF's beers that advertise cherries don't often deliver.

But if you're tasting sour cherries, and not sour beer, that's not necessarily an off-flavor. From many other reports here it sounds like the cherry flavor is really intensifying by the day, but not that the beer itself is going bad...it may not be the same excellent beer it once was, but I'd be surprised if you could get anything for it if it's not actually coming across as infection.

As a side note, did it gush or seem overly carbonated at all?

May be the first time I have seen 'current year' abbreviated. That's not as bad as abbreviating BA Expo (which is already abbreviated) I suppose.

No carbonation. No gushing. No way this can be considered acceptable. It was sour as shit. I just drain poured $30 down the drain. It was undrinkable.
