Good afternoon, all! It's an absolutely stunning Indian summer day here in the Cedar Valley. The temperatures are in the mid-80's, with a nice southerly breeze. I love how the afternoon light quality changes as we move toward winter. It seems more warm and inviting, intensifying the colors of the leaves as they begin to turn. While the brats are simmering away in a pot of Munich dunkel lager (Backpocket Slingshot), I think I'll have an Odell Oktoberfest and enjoy this fall weather. #proper


Time for grillin'. The brats are almost done, and so is the beer. This'll probably do it for me. Wine Club meets tonight, and I have to keep my palate in shape. The DDH PseudoSue I just bought will have to wait.

Starting with Trophy's Trophy Wife (3.92).



Well, the beer wasn't really a trophy...BUT...for a Throwback Thursday Trophy Wife...she fits the bill

 

An interesting take on festbiers. Certainly not a marzen but a pretty good, festive wheat beer.
Erdinger/Oktoberfest.

Equally untraditional for Oktoberfest are the Dolmades I got suckered in to making for a party this weekend.

I was so very pleased with this beer.

 

Had a dilemma today, made beer run and this one wouldn't fit. Oh the sacrifices we make

 

6% alcohol. 70 IBU. Brewed in Mississippi.

 

Well, lets see, i've been on this cruise , drinking so long , i think it's thursday so cheers from lovely St Johns New Brunswick.

 

One of the first boks I've seen around here, together with La Trappe and 'T IJ. Best before date on the La Chouffe is is 08 2018. See picture below.

This beer is aimed largely at the Dutch market, so I understood. We are suckers for bokbier around here. Used to be the only seasonal special beer besides pilsner and oud bruin for centuries

Liked your Duvel-Moortgat posting by the way! Seen the location many times from the highway, but it never looked very inviting from a distance. Almost like scaring people away with their slogan 'Sshh ...the Duvel is sleaping here ...' Good to know they welcome visitors
