What Do You Buy By The Case?

As we get into December, I buy a case of Anderson Valley Winter Solstice and enjoy a bottle now and then all year. I save one or two in the cellar as they age very well. I opened an 06 the other day and it was phenomenal.

I don't think I've ever purchased a whole case of anything. Sam Adams seasonal 12 packs are about as large as I go.

 

I hereby amend my previous statement of ZD/Gumballhead to now include BCBS for things i'm apparently willing to purchase by the case. may my wife have mercy on my soul.

 

Yeah, me too. 30 packs of it! Now that lawn-mower season is nearly over ... I probably won't drink/buy it again until spring. It'll be a steady diet of regulars by the case; Founders, Troegs, DFH, Bells, Smuttynose, Heavy Seas.

 

I buy a case of Abyss because it turns out i cant get a case of anything else around here! If i can even get that this year. Wait till BCBS hits my city, im buying like 2 cases!

Working on a case of Hennepin right now.
Just finished two cases of Weihenstephaner Weisse (along with a sixtel of Allagash White) for the summer months.
Will buy Two Hearted (and Hop Slam) by the case when I venture over in Pa.

 

About the only thing I buy as a case is Abyss. Been lucky the last few years and been able to get a case without too much trouble.

 

I've only ever bought cases of three different craft beers:

- Heady Topper (many, many, many times)
- KBS (one very happy, very expensive day)
- BCBS (will buy this as soon as my store in VT gets it. Will be a good $40 more than the KBS case, or so they warned me.)

 

Mostly cheaper local stuff like Yards, Victory, Troegs, Flying Fish, PBC, etc. Sometimes I'll grab a case of SNPA. Buying cases is more a cost saving measure than anything. I find I'm less tempted to go out and buy a $12 or $13 six pack.

I have not bought a case of anything Since I started drinking. Its was a Variety Box From Lockdown Brewing

 

Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout when it comes around. Cheap, strong and oh so tasty. Great price point...cost me +/- $37 this year for 6 four-packs and the price actually went up. Great beer to tuck away and enjoy periodically throughout the year....I'll also throw down on a case of Rochefort 10 about 4 times a year. Brings the per bottle price way down and it's one beer I always like to have hanging around.

 

I've finally just got to the point were I think I know what I like enough to buy by the case. Last thing I bought was a case of Pumking. I got cases of Kellerweis and Oberon over the summer. I know I should have bought a case of Breakfast Stout but I have so many other dark beers in the closet I settled on a half instead. I know I'll be all over a case of Mad Elf when it hits. After all those, I know there'll be a point where I get a case of Two-Hearted during the warmer months. Ditto some Prima Pils. And I wouldn't be shocked if I grab a case of Dead Reckoning once we get more into the winter and my closet load of dark beer starts to diminish.

 

i don't buy a lot of cases, except when going to a party or something. when i do, it's often some kind of Sam Adams or Sierra Nevada case
