Kane Brewing (September 2017)

I had an event today, but was in the area so I stopped by around 5:15. The guy in front of me got the last two 4-packs. I asked him to split 1-1, but he wasn't having it!

Now I know that feeling and it sucks - glad I was only 15 minutes away!

 

Mosaic Punch is outstanding. Might be my favorite IPA release they've done. Waimea Punch and Sea Cow were both great too, and of course Party Wave. Further tasting needed but gosh darn this is good

 

That guy's a douche! He wouldn't even give you a single can?

 

In my life, I've been the last guy to get beer twice. Gave one can to person behind me both times.

On the flip, I've been the first guy not to get beer three times. Was never offered a can by the person in front of me.

Think it's like anything else in life: some think of others; others don't think of any. Doubt it was malicious not to offer but rather just being oblivious.

 

To be clear, my post was really an anecdote about it selling out - I didn't expect the guy to split with me. He arrived on time - I didn't. I don't begrudge him at all.

The point of my post , other than saying it sold out, was to say that it sucks exponentially more to have the last can be sold in front of your eyes, and I'm glad I was in the area and didn't travel 1.5 hours each way for that feeling! Haha

 

That guy is still a douche. I get if he already promised some cans to other people but he could have spared a can even if you paid him for it. It's one thing if you didn't even ask but it sounds like you did. If it were me I would have let you buy the last 4 pack or at least given you a can.

 

Anyone ever notice how if we aren't shredding Kane we're shredding each other? Seriously, who cares?

 

Let's talk crap about traders and resellers swooping up MB, but then let's talk crap about a guy who got the last 2-4pks, 5 hours after release, because he wouldn't split.

I've gotten to many releases where a beer I wanted was sold out. But I also got to those releases long after the main rush was gone, so I wouldn't have to stand in line. It's unfortunate, but Kane will release another great sticker can in 2-3 weeks.

Had Matty offered to buy the guy a pour for 1 can, that's a different story that I can understand and I would have traded a can for a pour. Sounds like he wanted to split a whole 4pk, can't really blame the guy for not wanting to do that,I wouldn't have done it either, for a stranger.

 

Mosaic Punch is like double dry hopped Trader Joe's Orange Peach Mango juice. Once of the best fruited IPAs I've had, easily.

 

If you think I "crucified" an anonymous individual with my post, I envy the sheltered life you must have lived. An off-handed anecdote in a thread about a beer release is being made a much bigger deal by individuals such as yourself who truly have no clue what you're talking about beyond a brief one-off comment.

Again to my point above, you don't know the conversation beyond a short anecdote added to me comment as a one-off. You don't know if I offered to give the guy $20 for a 4-pack. You don't know if he had no clue what he was buying and I said, "You don't want those cans, I'll take them for you." You don't know if I told him I had a Tree House allotment of Doubleganger that I had just picked up from a buddy that I offered to give him one of. You just don't know. The purpose of my post, as I've said numerous times, was to communicate that I missed out - nothing more.

In an effort to move this conversation back, I'll show my Giants pregame today:

 

It really is very good. Kane doesn't do the cloudy juice bomb thing often but when they do they nail it.

 

All good Matty, I was more pointing out the other person calling the guy a douche.

 

So to close the loop on this one, we happened to already be going to the exact same place this morning so met up. Lfc_ynwa awesome and thanks! Owe you a beer and hope I can return the favor some day.

On a related but unrelated event -- Matty saw your post and i have an extra 4 pack if you want it

 

@glennl night swimming is great, and coastal plain is really special. I have hopes that you guys get these lagers into regular rotation printed cans at some point in your future. These are perfect beers to constantly have around in the fridge.

 

Anybody hear any rumblings of Anniversary Party?

 

Thanks... we like them too. We're doing our best to make them more a part of what we do, but there are a lot of variables - as always general capacity/brew calendar concerns (which are amplified here because off the extra time lagers spend in the tank), yeast management, and just perfecting the process in general. Getting lagers canned is something we want to do, but i have no idea when we'll be ale to.

 

After being back in NJ for six months, I did not a chance to go to Kane. Any news on distribution in Camden County?

 

Lots of kegs, but cans/bottles don't leave the brewery yet.
