Why would anyone feel any obligation to split with the one person behind them?. It's not like they got up there and said how much beer do you have left and then bought all of it. People go in expecting to buy a certain amount. If I go in expecting to buy two four packs and get there and I happen to get the last two 4-packs I'm not going to turn around to the guy behind me and say Hey you want one? If that logic applies then why would I not turn to the three people behind me and asked if each of them wants to have two of the beers? Or to the next seven people in line and say do you each want one?

You could absolutely do that and it would be incredibly nice of you, you would make the day of those 7 people. You have zero obligation to do that of course, would just be good karma I guess.

Obviously I don't know what exactly went down. @MattyBlayze seemed to imply that he at least asked the guy if he'd be willing to give up a 4 pack and he wanted no part of it. I don't know the situation obviously but I think the dude could have at least said, "Hey, I'll give you a can." I know that's what I would have done. I don't fault him for not giving up a whole 4 pack. And I don't get the attack on @MattyBlayze. He clearly was fine with how it played out.

Again, I think it has less to do with Matty than it has with you calling the guy a douche for not splitting.

I could be wrong, but I feel as though in general craft beer people used to help each other out in these situations when it was a smaller community about 8-10 years ago. With craft beer becoming more mainstream, it seems like a lot of the people who hopped on the bandwagon are looking to get as much of a limited release as they can and to hell with everyone who misses out. Again, I'm not sure if others share this sentiment, but I used to feel as though craft beer enthusiasts supported each other. Now, craft beer people compete with each other.

Maybe one factor other than the massive increase in craft beer consumers is that back then, there was no waiting in line at a brewery around here because these breweries were just someone's daydream at that point. Instead, you hoped to get to the store at the right time to encounter the latest limited release from Founders or Firestone Walker, etc.

coming from a person who doesn't often enjoy lagers, the new one is pretty good, I had it on Sat. I would get it again for sure. Haven't opened a Mosaic Punch yet but excited to

That's pretty shitty. Unless that other four pack was for a friend of his, I consider that move pretty selfish on his part. I know he isn't required to give you anything but I couldn't imagine taking the last two 4-packs left and saying 'eat shit' to the guy behind me who just asked me for one.

I dunno. Some people like to do nice things, apparently. I bet you're one of those drivers who doesn't let anyone in when the lanes merge.

If you're the last person in line to be served, you're supposed to give the person behind you half of what you're entitled to? How does this not apply to the entire rest of the line? Why is it okay for the guy that gets shut out to feel like he has a right to impose himself on the patron in front of him?

To judge an individual's purchasing decision, which wasn't even half of the full allotment and was very modest, and attempt to pressure them into anything is absolutely the most wrong way to view such a scenario. It's not like he bought 48 friggin cans. Any charitable actions made here should be at their discretion.

I've seen people walking out of a place with a hand truck stacked 7 feet high with limited cases, totally exhausting the business's supply and being unwilling to trade or sell any of it.

Enough of the shaming ffs. Greedy little 8-can purchaser...lmao.

First, see what Sabtos said. 100%
Second, I was not saying there was no circumstance under which I would share. If we in line for a while, struck up a conversation, then I got up there, got the last two, hadn't committed to share with someone I have known longer than line guy, and he asked, I probably would have said yes. But you don't know the circumstances.
Third, if I was the one shut out and person before me got only got two, I wouldn't in a million years get offended if he said no (if I'd even ask).
Fourth, if he did say no I definitely would not go on the internet to whine about it.
Fifth, I merge properly, and would further note that all of you should read up on zip-merging next time you are on the can it might change your perspective on merging practices.

Agreed. I asked one of the beertenders and they were very tight lipped offering no information. They have most definitely emptied the anniversary barrels so we know that is coming. So the question is.. do they do a lottery for the 'special' anniversary bottles only, or do all of it in a set (guessing set) to limit the crowds a bit. Or just do a bottle release and maybe do the anniversary party at some big local bar with lots of taps (Maloneys or something like that) ?

I'd assume they just release the bottles as normal, they tend to stick around for some time after the anniversary day and the reason it was a bit crazy last year was because of Fifth.. maybe if they will have some type of limited secondary bottle that will be dealt with in a ticketed or presale type of way

Last year was the only time they did a second bottle, I wouldn't bank on that...

I am a big fan of the anniversary beers, glad they stink around personally.

Maybe it will just be a birthday month with random beers appearing on tap over the next few weeks.

Last year was not the first with a second bottle. The previous year had the Cognac 1095. There are BB versions of both 365 and 730 as well but I can't vouch for how those were released. I imagine the 1st 3 anniversary parties were much more sparsely attended.

If I had a choice in the matter, I'd prefer the EventBrite route. It would be great to already have bottles paid for so one could enjoy the taproom offerings. Last year, it seemed at a certain point, you had to pick one line or the other.
